Chris Christie shuts down Vivek Ramaswamy after GOP hopeful calls US aid to Ukraine 'disastrous' during debate
MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN: The first GOP debate showed that while the various candidates all belong to the same party, they hold completely opposite views on the issues that matter most to Republicans.
One of the most recent discourses among Republicans has been about the extensive funding provided to support Ukraine during its war against Russia.
Young candidate Vivek Ramaswamy was quick to slam President Joe Biden's decision, while Governor Chris Christie shared his concerns about the conflict-ridden country.

With Governor Ron DeSantis posing a major hurdle for Ramaswamy, the GOP candidate managed to rally the public to his side by being the only one to speak out against supporting Ukraine against Russia.
"I would not [increase the funding for Ukraine]," he started.
Ramaswamy went on to say, "And I think that this is disastrous that we are protecting against an invasion across somebody else's border when we should use those same military resources to prevent across the invasion of our own Southern border here in the United States of America."

Ramaswamy also commented on the threatening powerhouses - Russia and China.
"We are driving further into China's hands. The Russian-China alliance is the single greatest threat we face," he said.
"And I find it offensive that we have professional politicians on the stage that will make a pilgrimage to Kyiv, to their Pope, Zelensky, without doing the same thing for the people of Maui or the south side of Chicago or Kensington," Ramaswamy added.
To conclude he said, "We have to put the interests of Americans first; secure our own borders instead of somebody else's. And the reality is this is also how we project strength by making America strong at home."

The baton was then passed to Christie for sharing his take on the discourse.
"I did go to Ukraine," Governor Chris Christie said.
"And I went there because I wanted to see for myself what Vladimir Putin's army was doing to the free Ukrainian people," he added.
Christie added that he disapproved of the forced militarization in Russia and how many lives fell victim to this war.

"They have gouged out people's eyes, cut off their ears, and shot people in the back of the head," he added.
"They got into those homes and raped the daughters and wives who were left as widows and orphans," said Chris Christie.
The former governor then pointed out former President Trump's questionable good relations with the Russian leader.
"This is the Vladimir Putin who Donald Trump called brilliant and a genius," Christie commented.
"If we don't stand up against this type of autocratic killing in the world, we will be next," he added.
