Dayton shooter seen in chilling CCTV footage entering nightclub with his sister just hours before he massacred nine people
The Dayton shooter entered a nightclub just hours before he went on a rampage killing nine people, including his sister, chilling footage has revealed.
According to a CCTV footage obtained by CNN, 24-year-old Connor Betts was seen spending more than an hour at Blind Bob's bar with his sister Megan and a third person believed to be Charles Beard.
At around 11.09 pm local time on Saturday, the three people were seen entering the bar before Betts was given a wristband and asked for his ID, The Sun reports.
Dayton police said there was no evidence to suggest Beard or Megan had any idea Betts had any weapons after an interrogation with Beard.
The 24-year-old was seen waiting for the other two to enter as he moved to the patio and back to the bar.
According to the bar staff, the security camera footage provided to authorities shows an "11.20" timestamp but the camera clock is around 11 minutes fast. Betts is later seen speaking to some of the staff at 12.13 am as he prepares to leave the pub.
Meanwhile, Megan and Beard hang back and are seen to be leaving around 12.59 am.
Just hours later, Betts goes on the rampage and fires off dozens of rounds from a modified .223-calibre automatic rifle.
As previously reported, the gunman went on to kill his own sister and her boyfriend along with seven others.
While the attack took place just 12 hours after the deadly shooting at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, police are still unsure of a motive for Betts.
However, the distressing footage shows how quickly police officers responded to the situation and prevented a bloodbath. They are seen gunning Betts down just a few feet away from the entrance of a packed bar.
Caitlyn "Adelia" Johnson, 24, a former girlfriend of Betts, opened up to The Toledo Blade how she had broken up with him after spotting several red flags about him.
She explained that while she found him charming at first, she eventually grew wary of him and concluded the relationship in May this year. Johnson recounted how on their first date Betts showed her video footage from a mass shooting at a synagogue and later boasted about his knowledge of various acts of violence.
