4-year-old boy accidentally shoots 8-month pregnant mother in the face after finding loaded gun under mattress
A four-year-old boy shot his pregnant mother in the face after finding a loaded gun underneath a mattress in their Washington home in the Skyway area on the night of Saturday, February 3. The victim was only identified as 27-year-old Sabrina and is said to be recovering from her injuries at a hospital.
According to the Associated Press, Sabrina and her boyfriend were watching the television in bed on Saturday when her four-year-old son reached in between the mattress and the box spring and found the loaded firearm.
King County Sheriff's Office spokesman Sergeant Ryan Abbott said the gun somehow went off and that the young boy "unintentionally shot his mom in the face." She sustained life-threatening injuries from the shooting and was rushed to a hospital for treatment. Sabrina, who is eight months pregnant, later had to be transferred to a birthing hospital and is now in an improved condition.
