While the episode was an emotionally charged one, it led to a shocking development that saw the return of a particular doctor who left the hospital for personal reasons. Toward the end of the episode, we see Sharon Goodwin (S Epatha Merkerson) with Dr Dean Archer (Steven Weber) in a restaurant telling him that the recent case made her feel that the emergency room needs an experienced emergency OB-GYN doctor and she already talked to someone. And who does the new doctor turn out to be? It's Dr Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram) who we know from previous seasons!

For fans who don't remember well, she used to be a drug addict but was later found out by her boyfriend, Dr Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) who had her arrested and put into rehab. Even after she recovered from using heroin, she replaced it with an addiction to love causing them to break up. At the beginning of Season 6, she was brought into the ED, again having suffered a relapse and an overdose leading her to decide to go into rehab again and also to leave Chicago. So her return after 2 years in rehab shocked fans when they learned she will be back as a doctor. But they were mostly annoyed by her possibly rekindling her relationship with Will, who currently likes Dr Stevie Hammer (Kristen Hager). Stevie was said to have been giving her marriage another chance and has been missing for a while which worried fans about a love triangle with the return of Asher. This is what they had to say.

A viewer exclaimed, "NOOOOOO! I don’t want Dr. Asher back! Will is finally doing good! And I wanted him with Hammer! #ChicagoMed", with another commenting, "Just please don't do a whole love triangle with Halstead, Hammer, and Asher #ChicagoMed lol @NBCOneChicago".
