LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The fourth episode of ‘Celebrity IOU’ Season 4 Part 2 is premiering soon, and it’s sure to be an emotional rollercoaster. For those who don’t know, the show follows Hollywood A-listers as they surprise family and friends with home upgrades as a heartfelt gift. And now it is the A-list actress Kate Hudson’s turn to use the opportunity to thank her soon-to-be mother-in-law, Melissa Linehan, the mother of the actress’ fiance, Danny Fujikawa.

The famous actress, who is set to star in Netflix’s ‘Glass Onion’, will team up with the ‘Property Brothers' stars Drew Scott and Jonathan Scott to surprise Melissa with a renovation in the second installment of ‘Celebrity IOU’ Season 4. This will be Kate’s way of expressing her gratitude to her fiance’s mother as the movie star transforms Melissa’s backyard with a fabulous makeover. Who is Melissa Linehan?

As mentioned above, Melissa Linehan is the mother of Danny Fujikawa, who is Kate’s fiance. As per HGTV, Melissa is a retired educator and single mom who raised her children by herself after their father died. She retired 30 years ago and now requires a safer, more functional backyard to garden and spend time with her grandchildren. Melissa is also recovering from a recent injury that caused two broken ankles.

Melissa is close to her granddaughter from Danny and Kate, Rani Rose. According to PEOPLE, Rani loves to sing and dance with her paternal grandmother while they prune the vegetable patch. Besides Danny, Melissa also has two other sons and is of British, Scottish, and Irish ethnicity. Rani’s grandmother also steps in to babysit her when Kate and Danny are busy. For Rani, Melissa is her “Grandma MuuMuu.” As per PEOPLE, Kate claimed that she’s “forever indebted to Melissa.” The actress says of her future mother-in-law, “She’s the most selfless woman.” To show her gratitude toward Melissa, the ‘Bride Wars’ star will transform her worn-out outdoor area into an opulent oasis where guests can unwind and entertain.

Kate Hudson goes all out with an Extravagant Backyard Makeover

Kate will enlist the help of the Scott twins to bring her vision for Melissa’s backyard to reality. The renovation took over six weeks. The trio created a low-maintenance retreat complete with an outdoor kitchen and fireplace, an updated casita serving as an art space, and a bocce ball court. In the episode, viewers can catch Kate donning the hat of the renovator, constructor, and interior designer as she breaks down walls, hammers, drills, and makes critical decisions regarding landscaping. Moreover, Rani Rose will also join her mother in remodeling her grandma MuuMuu’s backyard and lend her hand with gardening.
