One in 50 American teen students see themselves as transgender, finds new CDC study
The CDC also found that at least 35 percent of transgender students said they had attempted suicide in the previous year
Almost one in 50 high school students in the United States consider themselves transgender, according to a first-of-its-kind study conducted by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The study, which was released on Thursday, also stated that more than a third of those students said that they had attempted suicide in the previous year.
The CDC study also stated that transgender students are frequent victims of violence, bullying, and are threatened at school and on their way to and from home.
