Dog confronts cat which dropped from 6th floor to knock out its elderly master in viral video
An aging golden retriever avenged its injured owner after a cat fell six floors and knocked him over. An elderly man in northern China is seen in stunning footage getting knocked to the ground after being struck by the animal. His dog, who notices what has happened, quickly corners and confronts the cat, Metro reported.
In the video, the old man's pet, which seemed quite frail itself, is seen walking ahead of its owner when the incident took place. The retriever is seen on video sniffing grass on the side of the road before realizing its owner has been knocked out. It clocks the cat just moments after, despite wearing protective coverings on its worn-out paws.
The dog and cat are then embroiled in a fight after the former realizes what the cat had done to its owner.
According to the report, the elderly gentleman was given a neck brace and rushed to the hospital. The two animals are seen in the viral footage engage in the altercation as the dog sparks the fight by aiming a tame paw in the cat's direction. The feline responds by throwing a vicious strike at the retriever.
The video of the incident in the city of Harbin, in Heilongjiang Province, shows how the cat suddenly drops on the pedestrian after reportedly falling from the sixth floor of a residential building. The retriever quickly realizes its owner is on the ground and not moving before it apprehends the cat. Authorities were summoned to the scene and the elderly gent was rushed to a hospital for treatment. Doctors reportedly found he had sustained a cervical spinal cord injury. However, he has since been discharged from hospital and is recuperating at home. Local reports said he is planning to take legal action against the cat's owner to get compensated for the ordeal.
Both animals appear to have been unharmed in the incident, although it is still unclear what caused the cat to fall from the building.
China has made headlines for mostly controversial reasons in recent months, while simultaneously drawing the ire of countries badly affected by the novel coronavirus, which is said to have originated in an animal wet market in the city of Wuhan. Just months ago, we reported how a pet market in the country was selling extremely sick or even dying dogs, cats, and guinea pigs kept in filthy cages amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Campaigners said that the market was full of live animals on sale for their meat.
According to reports, campaigners did an undercover investigation and took footage of an unnamed market in eastern China in May when coronavirus cases were on the rise across the globe. During the investigation, they reportedly saw numerous stalls selling live pigeons, chickens, and quails as food while other animals, like rabbits, were kept in feces-ridden cages, awaiting prospective buyers.
Investigators also found that no veterinary care was provided to sick animals. While one section of the footage showed a cat lying in a shared cage looking sick and helpless, another section showed a dying guinea pig on offer. The video also featured visuals of dead animals dumped into bins near those that were alive.
