Man details killing his mother and a friend on social media: 'Felt nothing'
A Tennessee man who took to Facebook to announce that he had killed his mother and a friend, said in his post "movies don't do justice to how true terror sounds." Casey James Lawhorn, 23, who wrote the post while being on the run after murdering his mother, Vi Lawhorn, and an unidentified man, was later found dead by law enforcement authorities from self-inflicted gunshot wounds. The Facebook post, which police in East Ridge, Tennessee alleged was written by him has since been taken down. In the FB post, Lawhorn allegedly describes shooting his mother twice while she was asleep.
“She started screaming the worst scream I’ve ever heard,” read the post. “Movies really don’t do justice to how true terror sounds.” The post was written in Mississippi as Casey was allegedly fleeing after committing the crime.
As reported by People, in his post, Casey also hinted that he was suicidal. “Surely any normal person would wish death on themselves after doing what I did, seeing what I saw, and hearing what I heard,” he wrote. As per the statement that was given by the police, the victims’ bodies were found with bullet holes. Officials also confirmed that Casey's body was also found in Vossburg after the incident came to light.
Casey allegedly wrote he used a “stolen .22 LR rifle caliber” gun to commit the killings. He further noted that hours before the incident occurred, his mother came home intoxicated and “just like every other time she gets drunk, she goes on and on, without prompt, about how devastated she’d be if I killed myself.”
However, before shooting his mother, Casey attacked his friend who he noted was also in the house. His friend had been sleeping and around 1.30 am he decided to shoot him as well. Casey wrote that he approached him and “shot him in the head once" while he was fast asleep on the couch. After shooting his friend, he decided to go and shoot his mother but things did not work his way as the gun jammed.
In order to ensure that the gun would not pose any further problem, he left his mother's room to see how he could make the gun work. After fixing the gun he returned to his mother's room he “rapidly got off two shots” but the gun jammed again for the second time.
Realizing that she was shot by her own son, Vi began screaming, and shouted, “You shot me! You’ve killed me! Why?,” the post reads. However, this was not the end of the brutal killing that Casey had on his mind as after he fixed the gun he decided to switch on the light to ensure that he did not miss the shot again. “I turned on the light so I wouldn’t miss again. I shot at her twice more and it was over," the post read.
The post also notes that Casey took heroin and cash from his dead friend’s pockets and wallet before leaving the house. “I didn’t hurt our dog or cat, in case anyone was wondering about the animals,” the post read. He also noted that he stood over his friend’s body, he “felt nothing” other than “disgust at the corpse in front of me and the noises it was making.”
