British librarian hangs himself after being forced to unsuccessfully re-apply for a job he did for decades
A librarian took his own life when he failed to get a job after doing it for most of his life and was forced to re-apply for it. The 50-year-old library worker had been working the job since he was 19-years-old. Cardiff library worker Anthony Davidson's job was axed as a part of the local authority cuts. He was then told he had failed to retain the position and was put on a list for another job with the local council.
According to his family, the redeployment and job worries may have possibly contributed to his untimely death. When the family discovered Davidson, they found he had not attended work for two days which was "out of character" for the dedicated librarian. He was found hanging in his home in Cardiff on September 28. An inquest was held at the Pontypridd Coroner's Court Monday.
