A Facebook group reportedly supported Darius Sessoms, 25, the alleged killer of 5-year-old Cannon Hinnant who was murdered after being shot at point-blank range on August 9. The child was shot in the head while he was playing in the driveway of his father's home along with his siblings in North Carolina.

The now-shuttered group was titled 'Justice for Darius Sessoms' where social media users called Sessoms a "political prisoner" and also accused the "system" of "persecuting him unjustly," reports Breitbart. A few other Facebook users had mocked the late child. Another Facebook user Alexander Anderson had been able to acquire reported screenshots from the group. The screenshots show posts from the group which was quoted by The National File. One user had written, "I just sent 300 dollars to Darius’ commissary. Stay strong brother."

Another made a comment on the crowdfunding that the Hinnant family was going to receive and said, "Not surprised the parents are cashing in… we’re going to find out later that he was provoked or somehow set up. Good luck getting that refund." Yet another user mocked the child's name and said, "I’d feel worse about his death if he didn’t have such a stupid name. A 'cannon' that gets shot? Seems like his dad was asking for it since day one." As per National File, the Facebook group had 20,000 members, but it now seems to be taken down or removed altogether.

Many horrified Facebook users commented on Anderson's screenshots from the group and expressed their anger and disgust. One user responded to the post which mocked Cannon's name, saying, "Plain and simple, you're a s***bag white trash c**t b**h who is joking about a 5 yr old child being murdered because he's white. You're the lowest form of piece of s**t I've ever seen."

Another user commented, "People don’t just shoot kids, Unless you are Darius. In which case, you definitely shoot a kid. In the head. At point-blank range. On their own property." Yet another wrote, "Entered it and seems like it started out as an ironic group but actually attracted a bunch of retards who think this unironically, disgusting."

We had earlier reported Cannon's mother, Bonny Waddell, has said that she will be seeking the death penalty against the suspect who allegedly shot Cannon at point-blank range while he rode his bicycle on Sunday, August 9, night. While speaking about her son, Waddell shared, "My baby didn't deserve this."

"He had the biggest smile, the biggest eyes. We lost a big piece of our family. We all. He changed all of our lives. He touched everybody he knew," she shared. Cannon's two sisters — aged seven and eight — had been playing with him when their neighbor Darius Sessoms shot the child in front of his siblings. Waddell said, "This man took my girls when he took my baby. They know he’s in a better place." Sessoms is facing a first-degree murder charge for killing Cannon and is being held without bond. Waddell said, "I want death penalty and I’m gonna seek it," according to a WRAL-TV report.
