A 27-year-old woman from New Mexico was arrested by US Marshals in Jacksonville, Flordia, for allegedly killing her grandfather with a lethal dosage of medication and later stuffing his body in a big toolbox. According to Fox News, the accused who goes by the name Candy Jo Webb was arrested on November 5, three weeks after the remains of her grandfather were discovered.

The statement by the police read, "Webb was taken into custody without incident and was booked into the local detention center in Florida where she will await extradition to New Mexico.” She has reportedly been charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence in the death of Harden.

Who is Candy Jo Webb and why did she kill murder her grandfather?

Webb reportedly was missing since mid-October, after her neighbors discovered her grandfather A.J Harden’s (82) decomposed remains, according to the court papers. A complaint against her was lodged when the residents of Fort Summer, Chad Abeyta noticed a foul odor from a toolbox that was dumped on a nearby property.

According to the Daily Beast, Harden’s remains were severely decayed, but, a medical appointment card with Harden’s name was found in the pocket of the clothing. The investigators later learned that Webb had once lived on the same property with her boyfriend Shawn Perkins.

Webb had previously told the police in September that her grandfather was enrolled in a nursing home in Wellington, Texas called ‘Shady Oaks’. However, that was the last time she had been in touch with the police and when looked upon, the authorities couldn’t find any evidence of the facility existing.

The police spoke to Harden’s grandson Arron Harden the next day, who said that he hadn’t seen Webb and she wouldn’t tell where his grandfather was. Reportedly, she had even sought a restraining order against him.

The cops, on investigating her boyfriend Garrett Beene, came to learn about multiple sides to the crime story. At first, Beene revealed that Webb had told him that Harden had died in his sleep and that she had called the fire department to take his body. However, the police found that she hadn’t made any emergency calls as narrated by her boyfriend. He reportedly contacted the police through his attorney a day later and revealed that “Webb allegedly told him that her grandfather asked her to kill him so she gave him a fatal dose of Xanax and Ambien.” He further accused her of killing her grandfather to acquire his lake house.

"Webb drove the tool chest to 1976 Shenandoah Drive in Fort Sumner where she discarded the body," said the police.
