Like every year, Lifetime is geared up with an interesting lineup of Christmas movies to make 2020 better before the year comes to an end. ‘Candy Cane Christmas’, one such movie from the collection, has a lot of love, laughter, and joy to offer to make your holiday more special.

‘Candy Cane Christmas’ begins by introducing us to Phoebe (Beverley Mitchell,) as a child, who is beyond ecstatic to visit the Christmas candy lane in her neighborhood with her parents and her best friends. To her, Christmas is only special when she takes part in the annual tradition without fail.

Fast forward to years later, Phoebe has her own business, a decoration shop, which she runs with her best friend. It’s that time of the year again when the snow starts to fall and people start shopping for the upcoming holiday. However, Phoebe is bogged down by the fact that she won’t be able to attend the Candy Cane Lane as the old neighborhood isn’t the same anymore and there aren’t enough houses to participate in the annual tradition.

For someone like Phoebe who is stuck to her ways, it becomes harder to get into the spirit of Christmas as her only favorite aspect of the festival isn’t happening anymore. Through her opinion of the festival and the tradition of Candy Cane Lane, the movie tries to draw parallels with her dating life, which is also pretty much stagnant due to Phoebe’s uptight behavior. Her friends try to set her up on a date to make up for the loss of Candy Lane, but nothing could help Phoebe feel better.

However, little did she know she would run into the local vet Eric (Mark Ghanim), who begins to influence her perspective about not just Christmas, but much more. He is quite opposite to Phoebe, whose Christmas celebration has always been low key, mostly with his animal patients and aunt who took care of him since he was a kid. But it so happens that Phoebe and Eric start to enjoy each other’s company and realize that there’s more to the festival than decorations and traditions.

Even though spark soon flies between Eric and Phoebe, their relationship faces a few hiccups, which makes the latter holdback. You ought to watch the movie to know how things unfold between the two known strangers, who end up redefining the meaning of Christmas.

‘Candy Cane Christmas’ is a refreshing watch. The movie is simple with a predictable plot but captures your attention with little details. The actors have performed well and the chemistry between the lead characters works well for the story. The Lifetime movie is just the right pick for those of you who are planning on snuggling in your blankets and catching up on some light-hearted entertainment over the weekend.

‘Candy Cane Christmas’ premieres on October 31 at 8 pm ET on Lifetime.
