Candace Owens has ripped into those mocking Mike Pence over a fly that landed on his head during the first and only vice presidential debate, slamming critics for their"gotcha" tweets Wednesday night. The conservative firebrand concluded her fiery remarks with hashtags for "Keep America Great" and "Make America Great Again," The Sun reported. "I don't know who needs to hear this but…if your “gotcha” tweet of the night was dedicated to a fly on Mike Pence’s head, it’s because your team lost— Badly," Owens tweeted.

Earlier in the day, Owens celebrated Pence's apparent "K.O." victory over his Democratic challenger Kamala Harris. "Wow. Debate over. @VP just landed the K.O by pressing @KamalaHarris on record as a prosecutor against black people. The facts don’t lie. She is completely flustered. Thank you, Mike Pence!!! #VPDebate2020," she wrote.

The insect nested on VP Pence's head for over two minutes as he sparred with his Democratic challenger during the debate held in Salt Lake City, Utah. Among the pressing issues discussed Wednesday night at Kingsbury Hall, the fly incident provided some comic relief and sparked laughter on social media from viewers across the country.

Joe Biden even used the incident as fodder to fuel his campaign, tweeting a photo of himself with a fly swatter. "Pitch in $5 to help this campaign fly," the former vice president wrote on Twitter. Shortly after, he shared a link to flywillvote.com – which redirected to the Democratic National Committee's "I Will Vote" website. Footage from the incident garnered millions of views on social media. "The fly knew it's 2-minute limit," one user quipped, referring to debate rules that allowed Pence and Harris two minutes apiece to answer questions during the 90-minute debate.

Trump-Pence supporters, however, seemed to agree with Owens' remarks on Pence critics. "People will cry all day of how they want to hear of what each party has to offer, but a little fly can control them off critical thinking to mental beating. I feel for Americans," one wrote.

"I just posted several times that "the fly felt safer with pence than with harris," I think even they fly knows he's not safe with harris," another added.

"I noticed for the first time tonight. I couldn't put my finger on it before. Kamala's cadence is identical to Obama's. The timing and everything and what worse is that once you notice it you can even hear Obama's voice too," a third chimed in.

"Harris was so I’ll informed. I can’t believe she brought up Charlottesville and Russia. Pence did a better job than Trump revealing the Charlottesville hoax and he touched on Russia, which was very good but wish he had really driven home a kill shot. Pence won convincingly," a fourth asserted.

The notorious fly landed on Pence's white-haired dome as he showered praise on the "men and women who serve in law enforcement." The vice president's subtle head movements weren't enough to irritate the fly, which seemed comfortable for at least a couple of minutes. That said, the hilarious mishap came just four years after former presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton tangoed with a fly herself during her debate with future president Donald Trump in 2016.
