American author and host Candace Owens has slammed actor Dwayne Johnson for retracting his support for podcaster and comedian Joe Rogan. Popularly known as The Rock, Johnson had earlier commented on a post of Rogan saying, "Great stuff here brother. Perfectly articulated. Look forward to coming on one day and breaking out the tequila with you." After his statement, author Don Winslow tweeted to Johnson, "Dear @TheRock, You're a hero to many people and using your platform to defend Joe Rogan, a guy that used and laughed about using the N word dozens of times, is a terrible use of your power. Have you actually listened to this man's many racist statements about Black people?"

Johnson quoted the tweet and said, "Dear @donwinslow. Thank you so much for this. I hear you as well as everyone here 100% I was not aware of his N word use prior to my comments, but now I've become educated to his complete narrative. Learning moment for me. Mahalo, brother and have a great & productive weekend. DJ" Candace Owens then took a jibe at Johnson and tweeted, "The Rock turning his back on Joe Rogan is so emblematic of why these fickle Hollywood types are never to be taken seriously. Remember fellas—routine steroid injections does not make someone a man."

Owens, who is known for making controversial statements, has also taken a jibe at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for writing a letter to Spotify due to Joe Rogan's podcast controversy. She tweeted, "Everyday Harry and Meghan wake up and think “how can we make millions more people around the world hate us? Oh, I heard Joe Rogan has 50 million unique listeners— let’s write an open letter indicating our inherent self-importance, and demand Spotify begin censoring him." Owens continued, "Next up from Harry and Meghan—a one on one sit down with Oprah declaring that Truckers everywhere are racist to their 75% white and extraordinarily wealthy son." She further added, "A brief follow up from Harry and Meghan— “But we just want our privacy..."

Rogan issued an apology through a video on his Instagram after multiple musicians spoke against him. He captioned the video, "There’s been a lot of shit from the old episodes of the podcast that I wish I hadn’t said, or had said differently. This is my take on the worst of it." Talking about using the N-word in the past, he said, "It looks f***ing horrible. Even to me. I know that to most people, there is no context where a white person is ever allowed to say that word, never mind publicly on a podcast, and I agree with that now. I haven't said it in years. It's a very unusual word, but it's not my word to use. I never used it to be racist, because I'm not racist, but whenever you're in a situation where you have to say 'I'm not racist,' you've f***ed up, and I clearly have f***ed up."
