Caitlyn Jenner's first wife says Bruce talked of his 'fantasy' of transitioning while he was married to her, 40 years ago!
Caitlyn Jenner's first wife, Chrystie Scott, recently opened up about how the former Olympic athlete expressed her desire to become a woman 40 years ago, when they were married.
Just days after her former husband flew to Australia to appear on the new series of 'I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!' Chrystie told The Sunday Mirror that during her first year of marriage to Caitlyn, then known as Bruce, in 1972, she had no idea that her spouse was going through gender identity issues.
She added that it came as a shock to her when she found out that her then husband wanted to become a woman - a transformation that at the time he called a "fantasy" and said that he had no desire to act upon. Eventually, they went to have two children together - Burt, 41, and daughter Cassandra, 39. Their marriage ended in 1981.
"I was shocked. He was so masculine. It never occurred to me it might have caused him anxiety. There was no indication in any area of our marriage," she explained. "He said it was a fantasy and he wasn't going to act on his desire. I had never seen him dressing up in women's clothes or anything like that."
In 1985, Chrystie found out that her former husband was planning to turn his desire into reality. Nevertheless, she was shocked when Caitlyn publicly announced her transition in 2015 with a Vanity Fair cover that has since become legendary.
"When I first saw Caitlyn I couldn't stop staring. It was a shock and still is. I prefer him male. Bruce was my hero – he was a great guy and he's gone through so many changes, and I can't say they're good," she said.
Caitlyn first considered changing her sex through surgery during her second marriage to Linda Thompson.
"I saw him preening and posing in front of the mirror," Linda wrote in a book. "He just had his underwear on, and he took his genitals, and he tucked them behind, so that he was flat in the front. And then he was posing with his genitals tucked behind."
