Warning: Spoilers for 'Bupkis' Episode 5

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: What we can agree on is this: Pete Davidson is excellent at portraying Pete Davidson. A regular guy from Staten Island living with his mother and smoking some weed becomes a renowned comedian? Isn’t this the stuff that dreams are made of? For Davidson, it surely is. At 29, he has made a remarkable career in comedy and beyond for himself. Starting with 'Saturday Night Live' where he eternalized “Chad,” he branched out with small roles in ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine,’ Guy Code’ and then made his way to big-budget movies including ‘The Suicide Squad.’ Not bad for a man who never took life seriously. Along with fame, his high-end dating life has been a subject of tabloids for as long as one can remember. Being funny surely pays, andz quite frequently from the looks of it. He has been linked to Ariana Grande, Kim Kardashian and Emily Ratajkowski among many other A-list stars and now the dude from Staten Island has a show on his life.

‘Bupkis,’ a Peacock show, stars Davidson as he takes us along on a heightened fictionalized version of his life. In this action comedy, everything is about Davidson. We see his mother, Amy, played by the legendary Edie Falco, and Martin Scorsese’s favorite homeboy, Joe Pesci, playing his grandfather on the show. There are multiple guest appearances from Hollywood stars, and Chase Sui Wonders, Davidson's current girlfriend, also features on the show. In Episode 5, Davidson has an epiphany about his life. He wants to become a father. He rushes to his mother, who is equally excited if not scared on hearing his plans. However, he unsure about his thoughts of becoming a father. He doesn’t have a woman in his life at the moment, but he tells his ex-girlfriend about his idea. What happens next is Davidson and his mother go their separate ways to find an answer to two different questions.

Pete Davidson tests his abilities as a father

Davidson and his ex-girlfriend, Wonders, take a young girl to an amusement park. However, Davidson's three friends, who want to punch holes in his plans, tag along. The question is, what are his plans here? He is out to test a hypothesis: Is he good enough to be a father? He babysits the young girl and talks to her about her favorite comedians and her life's problems, eats ice cream with her and then takes her on a rollercoaster ride. Davidson wants to straighten out his life and sees fatherhood as an escape. Unfortunately, the young girl ends up hating him since he took her on a rollercoaster ride, which she hated too.

Davidson is devastated but Wonders comforts him by stating that he was indeed a man who can become a father, but he is still unconvinced. He believed that having a child would have given him a new purpose, but he returns home dejected to his mother. To take his mind off a failed endeavor of becoming a parent, he discusses 'Grey’s Anatomy' with his mother.

Davidson's mom Amy looks for a surrogate

When Davidson was at the amusement park, testing his abilities at becoming a parent, Amy is having lunch with one of his ex-girlfriends. Amy wants her to carry Davidson's baby as a surrogate, which eventually doesn’t happen. Despite her best efforts, Amy also returns empty-handed to find her son a surrogate for his child.

Both Davidson and Amy tried to find their own way to achieve a common goal, but witnessing the former make an effort to become a father certainly leaves you with a feeling that he has passed the first test of becoming a good father, which is believing that he can become one.
