Group of bullies bash teenage boy's head into concrete pillar, leave him in critical condition
CALIFORNIA: A teenage boy's life reportedly hangs by a thread after he was attacked by a group of bullies who bashed his head into a concrete pillar.
The entire incident was caught on camera and shows the 13-year-old, identified as Diego, getting punched by two students.
Diego is seen falling to the ground and the first student punches him another time before both bullies turn away from the injured child. Following the attack, Diego is said to be in critical condition after hitting his head on the pillar.
According to a report by CBS, Diego's family is asking everyone to pray for a miracle. Parents of students at the school were outraged and shocked at the brutal incident.
They slammed the school on Wednesday, September 18, about the issue of bullying and harassment and the lack of action from the school to prevent it.
One parent asked, "Was the school aware that Diego was being bullied and was mentioned on social media? And if so, why was nothing done?" The principal of the school in addition to district officials said that they were looking into the incident.
Another parent Leonardo Gonzalez added, "Bullying in Moreno Valley is an ongoing issue and every time it's brought up, it's swept under the rug."
A grandparent of one of the students, Sandra Murphy, shared that she has been going to the school board meetings for three years and heard parents complain about the same bullies. "And they come back two, three months later with the same problem," Murphy revealed.
The police have arrested the two students who had allegedly attacked Diego. Both students have been charged with assault likely to produce great bodily harm.
This is not the first incident to take place at the Landmark Middle School. In March, a campus riot saw 19 students being treated for pepper spray exposure.
