Spoilers for 'Bull' Season 5 Episode 3: 'Prison Break'

Although the title of the episode is the same as the hit crime thriller drama of the same name, 'Prison Break' juggles three storylines, each that are heartening and ending on a good note. A much-needed episode honestly, after 'Bull' dropped quite a few surprise bombs in the last couple of episodes. If the season opener was all about Dr Jason Bull (Michael Weatherly) affected by Covid-19, then the second episode hinted a potential Freddy Rodriguez departure from the show.

The Benny Colon storyline continues in 'Prison Break' as the long-standing TAC attorney finally decides to shift his talents and run for New York's DA. But he does leave giving fans hope that he intends to stay for some more time, and we reckon, this might be along the lines of a special appearances capacity. It starts with Bull's wife, Izzy (Yara Martinez) asking him to not be selfish and instead supports Benny whole-heartedly as he prepares for a new journey in life.

On the case front, Bull & TAC fight for a woman, Ronnie (Britne Oldford) wrongly accused of killing a prison guard while trying to escape during transport. While the prosecution alleges she shot the guard as she tried to flee, Chunk (Christopher Jackson) defends that she is being falsely accused by a guard who attempted to sexually assault her during the transport. A closer look shows how 'Bull' has incorporated the recent events as themes for their storylines.

Marissa has been one of the fan-favorite characters (CBS)

There's corruption, which essentially marks Benny's move to becoming DA. There are police crimes and the unfortunate events that transpired with George Floyd may have led the writers to try and use cop crime as part of the storyline. The third storyline is Geneva Carr's, Marissa Morgan. The character has been one of the fan-favorites and her arc development was hinted at in Season 4. Now, it promises to get better. Last we saw, she was talking to a therapist about her husband's impotency and how she took the fall for it. She tearfully admits that she's still going through the turmoil.

Now she finds potential love from an old college-mate even as the divorce agreement pretty much comes through. This lends more depth to her storyline and hopefully, we get to see Jaime Lee Kirchner's Danny and McKenzie Meehan's Taylor get their arcs explored as well. With Benny's potential absence, there is scope to know more about the members of TAC. 'Prison Break' is breezy and just another day in the office for TAC, sans Benny.

'Bull' Season 5 airs on Mondays 10 pm ET on CBS.
