Comedian Michael Loftus has lashed out at the celebrities who have vowed to leave the US if Donald Trump wins the 2020 presidential election. Claiming their statements ego-driven, Loftus told ‘Fox and Friends Weekend’: “They really think they’re that important. They really think we’re walking around going, ‘Wait, what? Springsteen’s going to leave? And Tommy Lee? Oh, I’m changing my vote!’”

Recently, in an interview with Australia’s Daily Telegraph, Bruce Springsteen said, “If Trump is reelected — which he will not be; I’m predicting right now he’s gonna lose — if by some happenstance he should be, I’ll see you on the next plane [to Australia].” Joining Springsteen was Tommy Lee, who told The Big Issue, “Dude, I swear to god if [Trump wins] then I’m coming over to visit the UK. I’m out of here. I’ll go back to my motherland, go back to Greece and get a house on one of the islands.”

But according to Loftus, none of these stars have the courage to leave America, which they have vowed to do so in the past also. “We knew these celebrities were self-centered. We knew they were stupid. We just didn’t know how cowardly they were. With Springsteen saying this, I guess it gives new meaning to ‘Born to Run,’” he said, quipping that it’s good that celebrities did not threaten to leave the country during World War II while declining to engage in a fight on Omaha Beach saying President Franklin D Roosevelt is 'not my president'.” “When celebrities declare they’re going to leave, we should have some new kind of candyman law. Meaning, if you declare it three times, you have to leave. Don’t let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya,” Loftus added.

Loftus received a lot of support from people on the internet with one Twitter user writing: “The all wise Michael Loftus…” Another said, “He's right. These rich, snobbish, elites DO think they're that special. No you're really not. Bye. You forget it's us who put you there. @springsteen @MrTommyLand Celebrities threatening to flee country upon Trump reelection are 'cowardly': Michael Loftus.” “Please leave go some where and don't come back. Celebrities threatening to flee country upon Trump reelection are 'cowardly': Michael Loftus and let the door kick you in the @ss . Like last time they are still you said you leave still here,” added the third user. Another wrote: "Michael Loftus is now my hero. Great perspective. God bless you Michael. However, this was not the first time celebrities have threatened to leave America if Trump becomes president. Back in 2016, when the Republican was running against Hillary Clinton, several Hollywood stars campaigned in support of the former United States Secretary of State. Among them was Miley Cyrus, who said at the time, “Honestly f**k this shit I am moving if this is my president! I don’t say things I don’t mean!” While Lena Dunham stated, “I know everyone’s always idly threatening this, but I’d be 100 percent moving to Canada. I love Canada. I think that it’s a great place, and there’s an area in Vancouver that I find beautiful and appealing, and I can conduct business from there.”

Echoing the same sentiments, Amy Schumer said: “My act will change because I will need to learn to speak Spanish. Because I will move to Spain or somewhere. It’s beyond my comprehension if Trump won. It’s just too crazy.”
