Trump trolled as Bruce Springsteen sings for Biden, Internet remembers how a cover band snubbed ex-POTUS
‘Celebrating America’ — the 90-minute program following the Biden-Harris inauguration on Wednesday, January 20 was a star-studded affair. The who's who of the entertainment industry dazzled on the stage and mesmerized an audience watching from all over the world. From Lady Gaga to Tom Hanks, Jon Bon Jovi to Bruce Springsteen, the program featured the leading icons of America, who could not have rendered a more heartfelt welcome to the Biden-Harris administration.
Bruce Springsteen sang 'Land of Hope and Dreams'
Legendary singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen opened the ‘Celebrating America’ TV special with his soulful rendition of 'Land of Hope and Dreams', infusing new hope into hearts of Americans. Springsteen stole the show with the guitar solo, performing at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. While Springsteen’s performance is creating waves on the internet, Twitter is having a field day after unearthing that four years ago, Donald Trump was turned down by a Springsteen tribute band to perform at his presidential inauguration.
Springsteen himself had been a staunch critic of Trump even before his induction into Presidency. He never minced words to call out the former president. He even referred to Trump as a “flagrant, toxic narcissist” at a 2016 interview with Channel 4 News.
What happened in 2017?
Springsteen, however, had no role to play in excavating the four-year-old secret about the Trump inauguration ceremony, that has reportedly left Twitter in splits. Back in 2017, when the Inauguration Committee was planning Trump’s inaugural ceremony, major celebrities like Sir Elton John, Andrea Bocelli, Céline Dion, Garth Brooks, Rebecca Ferguson, and others steered clear of performing at the ceremony.
In fact, since Bruce Springsteen himself was off the list, the committee tried to arrange for a Springsteen tribute band called B Street Band. However, even the band withdrew from the inaugural ceremony at that time. As the information has resurfaced in the context of yesterday’s ceremony, let’s have a look at the best tweets: "My favorite shade of the inauguration is they opened with Bruce Springsteen when Trump couldn't even get a Bruce Springsteen TRIBUTE BAND," wrote a user.

"She should say, 'Well, the Biden/Harris inauguration had performers like: John Legend, Tim McGraw, Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Foo Fighters, Justin Timberlake, Demi Lovato and was hosted by Tom Hanks. Trump had Toby Keith and 3 Doors Down. So there’s that'," wrote another, referring to White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki's first briefing.

One user went to the extent of declaring Springsteen as a 'National Movement', "This is my annual tweet suggesting to announce Bruce Springsteen as a National Monument. Just happened to tweet earlier this year... @POTUS @VP #BruceSpringsteen #theboss". "Trump couldn't get even the Bruce Springsteen coverband, lol ooh he is sulking big time with all these fantastic artists," tweeted another.
