Actress Brittany Murphy may have been poisoned to death, new investigation finds: 'It’s impossible to rule out murder'
Brittany Murphy could very well have been murdered with poison.
As reported by Radar Online, a shocking new investigation looking into the 32-year-old's death came to the conclusion that she could have been poisoned.
Around the time of Murphy's death in 2009, the Los Angeles County coroner had ruled out her death as accidental and had said that she died due to pneumonia that had been combined with anemia as well as prescription drugs.
Her devastated father, Angelo Bertolotti, strongly felt that the investigation into her death had been botched up and he went on to sue the coroner's office and LA police department in January 2012.
That same year in July, the case was dismissed after he failed to follow up on the charges.
As per lab tests he had requested, Murphy had suspiciously high levels of heavy metals in her system which suggested that she may have been poisoned.
Despite Bertolotti's repeated requests, the LA coroner's office did not agree to test Murphy's hair or any other specimens for poisons or heavy metals.
Pathologist Dr Cyril Wecht, who had been asked to help investigate the lab findings, said that "it’s impossible to rule out murder".
He also shared that he had "never seen such heavy metals of significance in a body" in his medical career. "I believe from a professional standpoint it should have been mandatory and incumbent upon the medical examiner’s office to run those tests," Dr Wecht shared.
Bertolotti died in January 2019 while still searching for the cause of his daughter's death. When Murphy died, she had lost a lot of weight and had many prescription drugs in her system.
Her sister Pia Jo Reynolds shared, "Brittany’s death was heartbreaking. I know a lot of accusations were made about her being on drugs and not eating. In pictures, it looks like she was super sick. I can’t imagine Brittany being weak, but she was very dependent. Still, I can say with all confidence in my heart she was not addicted to prescription drugs. No way!"
