Britney Spears requests her father to be removed as conservator of her estate, Internet says 'finally!'
Ahead of the court hearing on August 22, Britney Spears and her attorney have filed a plea with the courts, where she has asked to allow her father to regain control of her life and is considering ending her conservatorship, which he has legally done for the last 12 years.
According to a report by Independent, in a document filed to the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles on 17 August by Spears’ lawyers, the singer stated that she is “strongly opposed” to having her father, Jamie, “return as a conservator” and is petitioning that her temporary conservator, Jodi Montgomery, become his permanent replacement. Also, Spears’ lawyers believe the move will be “aggressively contested by James Spears”, however they said the conservatorship “must be changed substantially” to reflect the “major changes in her current lifestyle and her stated wishes”. In 2019, Spears’ father temporarily stepped down as conservator die to some health problems, but was due to resume the role this year.
As soon as the news went viral, people started reacting to it, as one user said, "He saved her from herself 12 years ago. Now she should be on her own, with good financial planners at her side. The time has come," while another one questioned, "I don't see how it was anybody's business to take her money. Sure get her help but why take complete control over her life and finances? That seems very opportunistic."

Soon people started slamming his father, saying, "Her dad is a tyrant, yeah, but so are her business managers. They want her to work so they'll make money. She needs a vacation from being a celebrity. The girl has to be looked over because she has a drug/alcohol problem and is dependent on others for care. Sad shit." and "give this woman the power to make her own decisions! if she can TOUR all these years and work her ass off, give her the freedom to control her own money! they are LIVING off her — she is an ATM to her father and team."

While one user said, "It's her hard-earned money. Set something for the kids and if she blows it, she earned it and it's hers to blow. This woman has crow's feet with someone telling her how she can spend the money she earned. Don't seem right," another one said, "FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
It's her hard earned money.

Don't seem right.
The #FreeBritney movement was launched last year by fans who believe Spears is “trapped”, and one petition, with more than 100,000 signatures lobbying for Spears’ freedom, claims: “Her father doesn’t allow her to drive, all of her calls & messages are monitored, she’s not allowed to vote, hang with anyone or spend her money without permission. And if she breaks a ‘rule’ he threatens to have her kids taken away.”
