GREECE: A missing British national who had disappeared while on a Greek island has reportedly been found dead in a ravine.

Dr. Natalie Christopher, 34, vanished while on vacation with her boyfriend who reported her missing.

She had vanished from Ikaria, 130 miles (210km) south-east of Athens, and had told her partner that she was going jogging up a hill in a rocky part of the island.

She promised him that she would be careful.

The boyfriend shared with Protothema News that she told him, "I can't go fast, I'll be back slowly, don't worry."

When she did not return, the worried boyfriend called the landlord of the property where the couple was staying.

The landlord then proceeded to contact the police.

The landlord also shared that Natalie's phone was ringing but there was no answer.

They then realized that the phone had been sending out a signal from the same area at first but then was switched off later.

Natalie had arrived on the island on Saturday to take a short break and was supposed to fly to Cyprus on Monday.

On Sunday, she had shared on Facebook, "Beautiful spot for swimming and deep water solo, had so much fun today. Realized later there are bolted routes here too, would love to come back again to climb. Any takers?"

As reported by Independent, the body which has been found has not yet been identified.

It was discovered around three miles from where she had last been seen, the authorities revealed.

Natalie is from London but works in Cyprus.

She is well known for her peace activism and is also a supporter for having more women in male-dominated science fields.

Detectives are currently investigating the circumstances of her disappearance.

Natalie is the second female to have gone missing on a Greek island this summer.

It was just last month that US scientist Suzanne Eaton, 59, was found raped and killed after going missing in Crete.
