Spoilers for 'Britannia' Season 2 episode 5

Several years ago, there were two brothers who loved each other deeply. But then an act of betrayal tore them apart – throwing one in the pits of death. Now The Dead Man is back and he is working with the earth demon Lokka himself to bring doom to Britannia.

In the latest episode of 'Britannia' Season 2, we do not see the Romans at all. Instead, Episode 5 puts the focus back on the internal turmoil among tribes, the Druids, and most importantly, the prophecy. In a major leap since the season started, the show is making progress on this front.

Cait (Eleanor Worthington Cox) is to now present herself to the water goddess to pass yet another hurdle, which will bring her closer to fulfilling the prophecy. Together, her and Divis (Nikolaj Lie Kaas) prepare themselves for the next day, when Divis dreams of some questionable scenes that lead him to doubt himself. He tries to keep his distance from Cait following that, but somehow, Cait manages to discover. As they lay in the cave sheltering themselves from the downpour, the young boy Harka (Mackenzie Crook) had kidnapped the last episode follows them there.

As the show progresses with its Season 2, it is becoming more and more evident that the fate of Britannia hangs by a cheap, weak thread in the hands of Harka and Veran (also played by Crook). The Romans might be the outside enemy of this mystical land, but the true foes might be closer than anyone is looking. Romans sure pit tribes against each other, but it is Veran and Harka now that hold the power - directly and/ or directly - to decide the fate of the prophecy.

So now Harka's plan is a little more evident – he has quite literally sent "love" – Mallin (Tom Rhys Harries) – to thwart the maiden from fulfilling the prophecy. Whether Cait will fall for this scheme will only be told in a matter of time.

Elsewhere, Queen Amena (Annabel Scholey) is working on Aulus' (David Morrissey) homework from the previous episode. She arrives thinking that she could manage to swing the decision in her favor but the Devni tribe and her sister Queen Andra (Samantha Colley) refuse any and all of her advances.

We also get to know a bit more about the infuriating character that is Amena. It was evident towards the end of the previous episode that Amena had doubts about making the journey to her homeland - she had quite literally seen a ghost. At the palace, she is haunted by the vision of a young maiden and for the sake of the storyline, we're going to presume it is her younger self. Given that she is stressed by Andra, more of Amena's past will be revealed. And not to mention, an oncoming Roman troupe.

'Britannia' airs on Epix on Sundays at 9/ 8c.
