Daughter, 19, forced to look after 'super morbidly obese' mother who 'hasn't moved in eight years'

49-year-old Claire featured in the first episode of Channel 4's 'Shut Ins: Britain's Fattest People' and talked about how her weight has affected her relationship with her daughter
UPDATED JAN 10, 2019

A British mother-of-two has revealed how she felt like a prisoner at her own home because she hadn't been able to move around for eight years due to her obesity.

49-year-old Claire, from Southampton, was the subject of the first episode of Channel 4's 'Shut Ins: Britain's Fattest People,' and talked about how her weight, which was 434 pounds at the time of filming, meant she had no choice but to be incarcerated at her home and required round-the-clock care from her 19-year-old daughter.

According to the Daily Mail, Claire, who is supposedly amongst 50,000 other people classified as super morbidly obese in the UK, had a problem with overeating from an early age because of her troubled relationship with her mother and inability to resist the temptations of carbs. She confessed carbs were her "trigger food" and that she was a "carb fiend" who could not stop herself from eating bread, pasta, and pork pies.
