Bride-to-be devastated as mother-in-law asks her to exclude her 'disfigured' father from wedding celebrations
The 27-year-old woman said her mother-in-law believed he would upset the guests or 'traumatize' any children due to his disfigurement if he attended her wedding
When it comes to wedding ceremonies, apart from the bride and groom, its their parents who are considered to be the most important guests. One unfortunate bride, however, was shocked when her mother-in-law asked her to exclude her dad from the celebration.
The American bride then found out that the reason her mother-in-law asked him to be excluded from the celebration was his disability. The 27-year-old woman, who wished to be anonymous, revealed the shocking incident in a post on Facebook.
She claims to now be looking for advice on how to get over the situation, especially after her "amazing" fiancé started acting weird about the wedding planning. In her post, as reported by the Mirror, the heartbroken woman explained that her father was involved in a "really bad accident".
This accident hit the family really hard, especially her father, who suffered burns to a large portion of his body and lost part of one of his limbs. Due to all this, the bride said he has "some serious disfigurement". She said, "He has been a great Dad and I never think about it."
However, when her fiancé started getting a little fidgety about the wedding planning, she sensed something was wrong. She wrote, "His mom called me out of the blue and told me that she didn’t think my dad should come to the wedding."
The forlorn bride-to-be continued, "She thinks that he will upset the guests and 'traumatize' any children who might be there. She is suggesting that we have a private family ceremony before the big blowout. I got upset and my mom asked why. When I told her, she said that she and my dad understand, which only makes me feel worse."
She added, "Maybe my future MIL [mother-in-law] had a point, but I would really rather disinvite her than my dad." The bride managed to get sympathies from netizens all over, with most commenting to say how awful the mother-in-law is to suggest that the bride’s own dad shouldn’t attend her wedding.
One person said: "That is the most f***ed up thing I’ve ever read, I would throw the man and his whole family away’. Another wrote ‘run because she’s a monster". Another user suggested, "The fact that your fiancé didn’t immediately tell his mum where to go lest her be uninvited would tell me I was marrying into the wrong family tbh."
