Bride slams pregnant bridesmaid for cradling her baby bump during wedding photos to 'deliberately' steal her thunder
While many agreed with the bride's predicament, others came out in support of the 7-month pregnant bridesmaid
A bride took to social media to criticize one of her bridesmaids, who she said "deliberately" tried to steal the limelight by posing in the wedding pictures cradling her baby bump.
Venting her frustration, the anonymous woman, believed to be from the US, explained her situation on a heated Reddit thread, accusing her pregnant friend, whom she called Kate, of stealing her thunder.
"In one of the first photos I noticed Kate was deliberately holding her belly so it was really obvious in the fabric of her dress (think basically every maternity shoot photo ever taken)," she explained.
As reported by Daily Mail, the woman continued, "I asked her to stop holding her hands to show off her belly and to just pose like everyone else. I had to remind her a few more times before we'd finished taking the wedding party photos."
There were quite a few people who agreed with the disgruntled bride, with one user saying, "I've been pregnant a few times and I didn't stand around holding my belly. That's ridiculous."
Another commented, "I agree with this except OP asked her multiple times not to, and the bridesmaid posed like that anyway. At that point I'd say, not the a***** because bridesmaid was doing it deliberately."
"The way I read it, everyone was posing in a certain way except for that pregnant girl," added another, who waded into the debate. "That's kind of inconsiderate. In that case, I think the bride is NTA."
Another user further penned, "Newsflash: The world doesn't revolve around you- even when you are pregnant," while one added, "Were the bridesmaids paying for the wedding photos? No, it was the bride. Therefore, the bride can make that final decision."
However, there were also many who were more sympathetic towards the pregnant lady in question. People who seemed to side with the pregnant bridesmaid, who was seven months gone at the time, highlighted that she may have been feeling uncomfortable, or even self-conscious about her bump.
"It is a natural standing position," wrote one. "Pregnant bellies are heavy, and sometimes you just need the extra support. I am just as pregnant as OP's friend, and if I'm standing I'm cradling my belly to take the extra pressure off of my back."
A second user said, "Pregnant bellies are uncomfortable and sometimes you have to hold them or else you're straight up in pain. It's unconscious a lot of the time. My hands are always on my belly and I'm not nearly as pregnant as OP's friend."
Another raged, "Is it attention seeking to be visibly pregnant at someone else's wedding? Because it seems like the bride (and a lot of commenters) are treating this girl like she maliciously planned to take over the wedding by not hiding her pregnancy, which is insane to me."
