The family attorney of Brian Laundrie's parents has said that Chris and Roberta Laundrie are not aware of their son's whereabouts. “Chris and Roberta Laundrie do not know where Brian is,” attorney Steven Bertolino said in a statement. “They are concerned about Brian and hope the FBI can locate him.”

“The speculation by the public and some in the press that the parents assisted Brian in leaving the family home or in avoiding arrest on a warrant that was issued after Brian had already been missing for several days is just wrong,” he added.

Days have passed while investigators are on the lookout for Laundrie around a wildlife refuge near his home in North Port. At present, Laundrie is the only person of interest in his girlfriend Gabby Petito's death. A massive manhunt for Laundrie is underway, who vanished soon after Petito disappeared. Ever since, social media has slammed Laundrie's parents, accusing them of helping him escape and not cooperating with police by concealing their son's whereabouts.

Twitter was flooded with posts criticizing the Laundries for allegedly protecting their son. "Dear Chris and Roberta Laundrie, As a parent myself, I get trying to protect your son. You can only protect them from their choices and actions for so long. But you know the truth of what happened now. Speak up and speak now! You owe at least that to Gabby! Call him home!" one user wrote. "I will take great joy seeing Chris and Roberta in handcuffs. Their kid is going to SING like a bird. And they’re close. He doesn’t give a f*** about either of you. You put so many people through hell with your silence," wrote another.

"Chris and Roberta Laundrie are accomplices to murder," one user wrote, while another wrote, "Chris and Roberta Laundrie are hiding information about Brian’s involvement in Gabby’s death and may be helping him hide from police."

Gabby Petito's body was found on September 19 at Wyoming campground and her death has subsequently been ruled a homicide. Days after Petito's death, the Long Island woman was remembered by hundreds of mourners on Sunday, September 16, at a memorial service in Holbrook. The Petito family attorney, Richard Stafford, has confirmed that a press conference on the case will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, September 28, at his Long Island law office.

Meanwhile, amid the massive manhunt for deceased Gabby Petito's boyfriend Brian Laundrie, whose whereabouts are currently unknown, experts believe that some clues hidden in Laundrie's behavior may lead investigators to him. Psychiatrist James Huysman said that a person like Brian Laundrie is 'very likely to run away, to hide, to think they can get away with it.'
