Brian Laundrie's mother had originally booked reservations for two people at a Florida park. However, just days before her son returned from a cross-country trip without his girlfriend, Gabby Petito, she canceled camping reservations.

The original reservations for two people were made on August 24, which were modified to reservations for three on September 3. Roberta Laundrie has originally reserved a spot for two people to camp at the Soto Park Campground in Saint Petersberg between September 1 to 3, which is located an hour north of Laundrie's home. According to documents obtained by Fox, she canceled those reservations on August 31, just a day prior to Brian's return to his family home in North Folk. The new reservation for three people was made on September 3 at the same park from September 6 to 8. Documents showed that the family did check-in and out of the campsite between those dates.

Why did the Laundries cancel their original reservation?

Thomas Rutherford, a witness who was similarly camping at the park the same weekend can "vaguely remember" seeing Laundrie's Dodge truck which Roberta had listed on their reservation form. A former employee for Civic Plus - the software used by the De Soto Campground reservation system - said they believe the Laundries canceled their original plans because they knew their son was coming home unaccompanied by Petito. They said that they had submitted that information to the FBI.

Petito's boyfriend has reportedly not been seen since September 14 and was confirmed 'missing' on September 17. This led police to search the nearby Carlton Reserve for Laundrie, but with zero luck so far. Laundrie, who allegedly hit and slapped his girlfriend last month according to a 911 call, returned home to Florida on September 1 without her after a cross-country road trip. Since then, Petito's body has been discovered in a Wyoming park by the authorities. Teton County Coroner Dr. Brent Blue confirmed the vlogger's death was a homicide but the immediate cause of death is still unclear as police are still waiting for the final autopsy results.

Dog The Bounty Hunter gets involved

Dog the Bounty Hunter has now entered the hunt. Dog, whose real name is Duane Chapman, told Fox News on Monday that he learned the Laundries spent two nights in the park with their son in September. These remarks have been disputed by Laundrie's attorney. "I will no longer give that dog credibility or dignify his false claims with the time of my reply," said Steven Bertolino, adding that the family all left the park together.

Dog is making some headway in his hunt for Brian. The reality TV star and a crew of K9s have reportedly come across a fresh makeshift campsite near the park where the missing fugitive camped with his parents weeks ago. Dog found a fresh Monster Energy Ultra Gold can at the site deep in the woods of Shell Island off the coast of Florida near Fort De Soto Park. According to Fox News, the can has no signs of rust or faded colors, indicating it had only recently been discarded. The can has not been definitively linked to Laundrie at the time of writing, but the discovery came on Wednesday, September 29, when Chapman arrived at the location with a crew and a team of K9s to determine whether Brian was canoeing around the area to elude capture following the disappearance and death of his 22-year-old fiancee.
