Brave cop clings to windshield of car for over 12 miles as driver tries to flee drug test
NAVI MUMBAI, INDIA: A brave police officer was taken on a death ride for over 12 miles on top of a car bonnet as the driver attempted to flee a drug test, during a traffic stop. Shocking footage from the incident shows, determined traffic cop Siddheshwar Mali, 37, spread across the vehicle’s windscreen as the driver weaves in and out of traffic on Sunday, April 16, in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra State, India.
The dangerous suspect in question was a 22-year-old, who was later apprehended and tested positive for cannabis use. He now faces charges of attempted murder, along with other offenses under India's Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

What really happened?
The harrowing incident started when two officers tried to stop the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence, on Sunday, according to local police. However, the driver did not stop and instead allegedly attempted to ram his car straight into both of the policemen. During this, one of the officers Siddheshwar Mali had to leap onto the bonnet of the motorway to avoid suffering an injury. Little did the officer know, he was going to be taken on a death ride.
The drugged driver had no plans to stop and took the 37-year-old officer on a ride for 12.4 miles in Navi Mumbai. The driver then ran through several traffic signals, uncontrollably swerving in and out of traffic, as he had very little view out of his windscreen because the officer was clinging spread across it. Yet, the ruthless driver does not stop while the officer battles for his life, leaving onlookers appalled by the horrifying ordeal.
Driver forced to surrender after taking officer on deadly spin
Police claimed the suspect drove at high speed, forcing the officer to be thrown from the vehicle. Fortunately, the brave officer Siddheshwar Mali only suffered minor injuries in the incident. During the pursuit, fellow officers had engaged in a high-speed chase to follow up with the officer who was hanging on the car's bonnet. Eventually, the officers were able to detain the suspect after setting up a roadblock, forcing him to surrender. The twisted driver tested positive for cannabis use. Police spokesperson Shashikant Chandekar claimed, “He had consumed ganja.” The male suspect is seen in police custody by the side of the motorway, and charged with attempted murder in addition to drug use while driving.
