Fans of ‘A Star is Born’ have been clamoring to see Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper reunite on screen and their wishes may be fulfilled, in a way, if certain rumors are proven true. According to HollywoodLife, an unnamed source has revealed that Gaga might join the third ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ movie as the love interest for Cooper's Rocket Raccoon.
“There is a very strong possibility that Lady Gaga and Bradley will be working together again on Guardians of the Galaxy 3,” the source said. “Only some cast names have been released but the word is Bradley will reprise his role of Rocket Raccoon and Gaga will play his love interest. Their characters are animated but still, it’s exciting. Audiences want them together and certainly everyone recognizes that appeal, they’re box office gold together, it’s very likely that this will happen."
If the rumors are true, Gaga will be voicing Lylla, a sentient otter from the same planet as Rocket. So far, Marvel has not confirmed these rumors.
The rumors began going around after the Twitter account Film Updates tweeted that Gaga is being considered for the role.
For those who don’t know, Rocket is from a planet called Halfworld, a former planet-wide mental institution. The robots who were in charge of the patients of Halfworld gained sentience and abandoned their wards to move to the other end of the planet where they conducted massive industrialization but not before turning all the animals on the planet into sentient beings like Rocket and making them take their place as caretakers of the insane aliens.
Lylla is the heiress to a vast fortune on Halfworld and most of her appearances have revolved around unscrupulous suitors trying to marry her so they can lay claim to her inheritance. ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ has not revealed much about Rocket’s past so introducing Lylla might be a good way to bring up the snarky character’s backstory.
Cooper recently split from longtime girlfriend Irina Shayk. There was some speculation that his emotionally-charged performance of ‘Shallow’ with Gaga at the Oscars may have played a part in Cooper and Shayk's split. Both stars have dismissed these rumors.
