Celtics vs Heat: Tyler Herro's 37-point blitz sinks Boston, Internet calls him the 'best surprise' this season
Tyler Herro was having a good season. He just turned it into a ridiculously good season in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Boston Celtics on Wednesday. His 37 points off the bench saw Miami take a 3-1 lead pipping Boston 112-109 on Wednesday, September 23. The final slam came in when he shot a jumper quite a few feet behind the three-pointer line, and there was nothing the Celtics could do about it.
A 14-for 21 shooting was the last anybody expected from Herro and he did it in emphatic fashion. Twitterati was soon abuzz. From comparisons to stans to just being mind-blown, the 20-year-old was one of the top trending personalities after the game. "In a non-covid world, Tyler Herro would've hit South Beach after this game and been treated like a god during one of the wildest nights of his life but now this man just gotta go back to his room and eat a Nature Valley bar," read one of the tweets.

When Magic Johson praises, you just got to sit back and applaud the kid. "Rookie Tyler Herro showed up and showed out!! He scored 37 points to lead the Heat to victory and Miami to a 3-1 lead in the Eastern Conference Finals!" the legend wrote.

And here are some stats, courtesy ESPN. "Tyler Herro scored 37 points tonight, tied for the 5th-most by a player off the bench in a playoff game since 1971 (most by a rookie over this span). It is also the 3rd-most by a rookie against the Celtics in a playoff game all-time, behind Wilt Chamberlain (50 & 42 in 1960)." How's that for unlocking achievements. "The three biggest stories of the Playoffs Jamal Murray Anthony Davis Tyler Herro Wonder where they all went to school?" read one of the tweets.

There was no doubt Tyler was Miami's prospect for the future. "Tyler Herro is the goods. The Heat have been the league's best surprise this season," a fan observed. Bam Adebayo ably assisted with 0 points on 7-for-11 shooting, with 12 rebounds, four assists, and two steals. One was a fun note on "Tyler Herro leading Jimmy Butler & the Heat to a Game 4 celebration dance."
