After completing its first part, 'Boruto: Naruto Next Generations' is on hiatus. In the finale, fans witnessed Boruto Uzumaki and Kawaki swapping places, leading to Boruto being pursued by the Shinobi of Konoha.
Sasuke Uchiha, Boruto's mentor, plays a significant role in the plot surrounding his escape, and the outcome puts the legendary Uchiha in trouble once more. Though he is not entirely a criminal, his recent actions could result in him being labeled a rogue ninja once again in the Naruto universe.

Boruto's rogue ninja status
After the war, Sasuke embarked on a redemptive journey, helping as many people, and tracking down the Otsutsuki Clan to prevent their attacks. Although he played a minor role for most of the story, things became intriguing when Naruto's son, Boruto, joined the fray. Boruto inherited the Karma from Momoshiki Otsutsuki, and soon after, the Kara organization made its presence known.

As Boruto's story progressed, more secrets about the Otsutsuki clan were revealed, expanding upon their lore. The introduction of Kawaki, who like Boruto was branded with Karma, added another layer to the story. However, after being saved by the 7th Hokage at the cost of his powers, Kawaki vowed to protect him by killing all Otsutsuki, including Boruto.

Despite his determination, Kawaki found it challenging to accomplish his goal, leading to a climactic encounter where he used Ada's Shinjutsu of Omnipotence to switch lives with Boruto. In the process, Boruto was mistaken as the killer of the 7th Hokage, who was sealed in a different dimension.

Sasuke's Involvement
When the world turned against Boruto, Sasuke came to his aid without hesitation. Upon learning from Sarada that Boruto was being framed, Sasuke defended him and helped him escape from Konoha while surrounded by shinobi witnesses. The pair then embarked on a journey to train and improve their strength, with no plans to return to the village for at least four years. This means that in the eyes of Konoha, Sasuke will have aided and abetted a criminal for an extended period.
Despite Boruto being declared a killer of the 7th Hokage and a threat to world security, Sasuke harboring him could be seen as a crime by the ninja world. While Sasuke's legendary status may offer some protection, the severity of the situation could lead to him being considered a rogue ninja-like Boruto. If the pair continues to engage in activities deemed criminal by Konoha, such as infiltrating the village or fighting Kawaki, they could end up on a list of targets to be eliminated. This adds an intriguing twist to Sasuke Uchiha's story.
Fans need to wait for the Boruto manga to return from its four-month hiatus to find out what happens next.
