'Bombshell' actor Spencer Garrett on playing Sean Hannity and not recognizing Charlize Theron in her Megyn Kelly look

On playing the character, he told MEAWW, "I didn't want to put any judgment on him. I just wanted to play him as him and let people decide"

People cannot keep calm as the film 'Bombshell' is releasing this weekend. Since it is inspired by an actual incident — the accounts of several women at Fox News who exposed CEO Roger Ailes for sexual harassment — it is gaining a lot of traction already. We have seen actor Spencer Garrett in films like 'Air Force One' and 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' and watching him take over the role of Sean Hannity is definitely something we look forward to.

MEA WorldWide (MEAWW) caught up with the buzz and had an interview with Garrett to talk about his experience working on this movie.

On preparing to play Hannity, Spencer said, "Sean Hannity is kind of a character unto himself. I didn't have to do a lot. I watched a lot of Fox News, which was more painful than I thought it would be. But it was interesting because I wanted to get his cadence and mannerisms, his voice and he has this very specific bearing. So, I wanted to capture that as best I can but I didn't put too much mustard on it. I didn't want to veer too far away from what he already is."

Garret describes Hannity's character and he says, "... as a controversial kind of a divisive figure to some people, I didn't want to put any judgment on him. I just wanted to play him as him and let people decide."

Spencer also revealed that he isn't sure if he looks forward to sitting three hours in the makeup chair, unlike Charlize Theron who has totally got it all right. He says, "She is such an otherworldly brilliant actress. I mean she channeled Megyn Kelly so beautifully... I had met her on the set, the first day that I went to the set, they made some Sean Hannity's brown contact lenses for my eyes. So I went for contact lens fitting and I met Charlize as Charlize. They were on their lunch break and we got to say hi and spend some time with each other. And the next time I saw her was on set. When I walked onto the set to say hi to Jay, I was in my Hannity and she was standing or there was a tall blonde woman standing next to Jay. As I started chatting with Jay, he said, 'Aren't you going to say hi to Charlize?' and it was Charlize as Megyn Kelly!"

He swears that he's not kidding and that he completely did not recognize Charlize at all! "She just became that person and she's an incredible artist. But I had no idea that it was her, so that's how good she is."
