Blue Dragon Series Awards 2022: Winners list includes 'Squid Game', 'DP', 'Yumi's Cells'
Following the success of the Blue Dragon Film Award and the reputable status it has achieved for recognizing Korean talent since the 60s, we are now getting a K-drama version of it. Back in June, Sports Chosun announced that they would be hosting the first Korean award show for web dramas made for streaming platforms like Netflix, Apple TV+ and more with the Blue Dragon Series Awards. They will be taking a look at the content produced by international as well as domestic streaming platforms like Disney+, seezn, Watcha, wavve, Kakao TV, Coupang Play and TVING.
The Blue Dragon Series Awards 2022, held on July 19, is the first edition. It announced 13 categories, including ‘Best Drama’, ‘Best Actor’ and ‘Best Variety Show’. It was hosted by Girls’ Generation’s YoonA and TV personality Jun Hyun-moo and brought in a star-studded lineup of presenters like ‘Sh**ting Stars’ Kim Young-dae, Girls’ Day’s Hyeri, SHINee’s Key, AOA’s Seolhyun, Park Hyung-sik, Minhyun from ‘Alchemy Souls’ and more. JaeJae of ‘MMTG’ fame hosted the red carpet and was a nominee for the ‘Best Female Entertainer’. The award show went on to honor dramas like ‘Squid Game’, ‘DP’ and ‘Yumi’s Cells’.

Winners of Blue Dragon Series Awards 2022
The Blue Dragon Series Awards 2022 was a big night for the web dramas ‘Squid Game’ and ‘DP’ as both won multiple awards. It was also a win for the LGBT+ community as the main leads of a BL K-drama were acknowledged by a major Korean award show with ‘Semantic Error’s Jaechan and Park Seoham getting awarded. Actors of ‘Yumi’s Cells’ season 1 reunited as Ahn Bohyun cheered Kim Go-eun on her award.
Dubbed the nation’s comedian, Yoo Jaesuk’s genuine enthusiasm for his fellow nominee and subsequent award winner Kang Ho-dong was labeled adorable. ZE:A fans got a mini reunion as former group member Siwan was filming Park Hyung-sik while he was presenting an award. Girls’ Day also got a mini reunion as Hyeri and Yura for ‘Forecasting Love and Weather’ were present.
