After reports of Black Lives Matter activist Shaun King buying a $40k guard dog surfaced, the 42-year-old civil rights activist and co-founder of Real Justice PAC took to Facebook and Instagram to defend the motive behind the purchase. He said, “I’ve had hundreds of death threats - including from police, military snipers, and white supremacist groups.”

As reported earlier, King's political action committee, Grassroots Law, made two payments to California-based Potrero Performance Dogs in 2021. The payments made by the committee included a $10K deposit on December 6, 2021, according to Federal Election Commission Records. King came under fire when he shared on Facebook that he acquired a mastiff named Marz, days after Grassroots Law paid another $30,650 to Potrero, which he called a “new member of the King family,” the Washington Free Beacon reported, which he later returned as “it is too energetic to be a house pet”. The post, which can no longer be viewed publicly, stated that Marz would serve double-duty providing “alertness and protection” and as a pet. As per the report by Free Beacon, the $40K that King's PAC spent on Marz was equal to the contribution that the committee made to non-federal political candidates in 2021. The BLM activist has not been legally accused of any wrongdoing in connection to Grassroots, which he founded with civil rights lawyer Lee Merritt, but he has now claimed that he needed the guard dog for 24/7 security for his family due to the death threats.

BLM activist Shaun King used $40,000 of donor funds to buy guard dog and then RETURNED IT

King wrote, "I have to say some things that I’ve worked hard to keep private for the safety and security of my family. But I need you to know this so that you understand why our family not only needs a guard dog at home, but 24/7 security wherever we go.⁣ White supremacists and people who’ve meant my family harm have now shown up to our last three homes. Multiple times.⁣"

Pointing to the strict gun control laws in New York and New Jersey, he said, "Before you talk about how I should defend myself with guns, New York City won’t even allow me to have a gun. New Jersey doesn’t have stand your ground laws and hardly allows you to even own guns. News outlets have shown our home and exact location online, which then caused a slew of strangers to show up at our home."

King continued, "We’ve had people come up on our front yard. ⁣And up our backyard, frightening the hell out of my family. ⁣We’ve had people file fake police reports against us. Causing the police to show up at our home. ⁣We’ve had people file fake child abuse reports against us. Causing child services to harass us for months."

King narrated the current situation of his life as he wrote, "I’ve had hundreds of death threats - including from police, military snipers, and white supremacist groups. I’ve received death threats in the mail, in email, and across social media. I report it. Nothing happens.⁣ Police have caused problems with my children at their schools over me. I f**king kid you not. ⁣This is what my life has become."

Shaun also shared the photo of Marz, along with photos of journalists who published the pictures of his house online and allegedly harrased his family on social media platforms. He warned them by saying, "You motherf**kers that won’t leave me and my wife and my kids alone… I’m about to return this pain back to you."
