Well, that definitely was not an easy watch. Strike that, that was just downright excruciatingly painful. Satan's mistress Madeline Burke (Mary Elizabeth) played her cards carefully, so carefully that the team played right into her hands. Remember that ray of hope we had in the previous episode, in the form of Keaton? Well, he's dead now. He betrayed the FBI fugitives for Madeline, and was almost about to betray her, but got shot while doing so.

Madeline caught hold of Tasha, while Jane (Jaimie Alexander) and Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) were ambushed just before they left the bunker. And as for Rich (Ennis Esmer) and Patterson (Ashley Johnson), that story ends on a sad note. Patterson dies in the trap she had been trying to lay for the ambush and we see the fireworks exploding in the room, while Rich sobs for his best friend.

The eerily sweet goodbyes said to Patterson at the beginning of the episode were a dark hint of what was to come, because obviously, an emotional goodbye always paves the way for death in these kind of shows. Fans were left numb, unable to process Patterson's death, and in fierce denial that she's still alive.... even though we know she isn't.

"The look on Rich’s face knowing he was powerless to help her IM DONE IM SO DONE," a fan tweeted. "PATTERSON IS NOT DEAD I DONT CARE SHES ALIVE SHE FOUND A WAY TO SURVIVE," a fan wrote. "Nahh William Patterson can't die lmao y'all foul for that ..she's one of my favs smh," tweeted another fan.

"If Patterson is actually dead I don't care how the season ends anymore. My favorite character is gone. Not allowed. I had ONE rule for you and that was to NOT KILL PATTERSON," another wrote. "William Patterson is alive. You hear me..... until I see a body, she is alive. Both her and Reade," wrote another fan. "I'm completely destroyed," mused amused another fan.

"Tell me Patterson miraculously made it out one way or the other, my heart can't take all of this," tweeted a fan. "I hate this show, I am done," another fan wrote. Fans pray that she used her "Plan B" tunnel and escaped. Well. We hope so too. If your heart has returned from being in your mouth, tune into the action on NBC on Thursdays at 9 pm to find out what happens to the rest of the team. Fingers, toes and even hair strands crossed.
