'Blindspot' Season 5 Episode 7: Madeline erases her son's memories, livid fans wish her a painful death
Good if you managed to catch a breather after last week's episode because the latest one was a rollercoaster of sorts with a cliffhanger ending. In 'Awl in', Kurt Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) and Jane Doe (Jaimie Alexander) along with Tasha Zapata (Audrey Esparza) had to prevent the shipping of the poisonous chemicals to the US. These ZIP chemicals destroy a person's memories and erase their identity completely. Tasha intercepts Madeline Burke's (Mary Elizabeth) son Greg and tries to convince him about his mother's sinister nature. It takes a while, but he finally gets on board. However, this doesn't have a happy ending as Madeline realizes that he is no longer on her side. And so, being Madeline, she abducts him and injects ZIP into him and he has no sense of himself at all. The kid could have tried to be subtle at least, but anyway, you still feel sorry for him.
Apart from that, Madeline took Weller's ex-wife Allie into custody and interrogated her about the team's whereabouts. She compelled Allie to make a teary public announcement about how Weller should turn himself in for the sake of his daughter, Bethany. Allie gives a small sign to Weller, by carefully wiping her eyes. Weller picks up on this and is relieved that she wasn't played. Nevertheless, the end of the episode sees the return of a familiar face — Keaton. The promos for the next episode show that the team has apparently been caught.
Fans are all over the place after seeing this worrying episode. Some say that Madeline is the most diabolic character they've ever seen, perhaps more so than Joffrey from 'Game Of Thrones'. "Madeline just erased her sons mind that's not a mother at all!!! #Blindspot," tweeted a fan. "ZIPPED YOUR OWN SON, can't stand Madeline," another wrote. "Omg I can't wait for them to take down Madeline, she is getting on my nerves," a fan tweeted.
"I haven't despised a character so much since Joffrey Lannister, but in #Blindspot, my blood boils watching Madeline Burke. Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio and Jack Gleeson are both phenomenal at playing despicable roles. I only hope that Madeline meets a similarly painful fate as he," another tweeted. "I can believe Madeline zipped her own kid. Now the endgame is near and hopefully a satisfying conclusion because I want this woman brought down badly," a fan wrote. "This better end with a bullet in Madeline's head," a fan wrote.
Well, hopefully and soon, Madeline will be brought down quickly. Tune into the action of 'Blindspot' on NBC, Thursdays at 9 pm.
