'Blindspot' Season 5 Episode 5: Kurt Weller tortured by ghosts of his father and Oscar, fans say he needs a hug
It's as if the creators of 'Blindspot' have taken a solemn oath to make each episode more nervewracking than the previous one. In the June 11 episode, Kurt Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) is being held hostage by Madeline Burke's (Mary Elizabeth) demonic minions, including Ivy Sands (Jullee Cerda).
Ivy tortures him for the whereabouts of rest of the team, which he obviously doesn't reveal. She plays a sinister game and injects a drug into him, and so he begins to have hallucinations and visions about his father as well as Oscar, Jane's (Jaime Alexander) ex-boyfriend who turned out to be a traitor. Ivy also mentions to him that they'll kill his daughter, Bethany, who is at the hospital getting treatment.
In his delirious state, Weller reveals that the team is in a bunker, though he doesn't mention where. Nevertheless, he wrests himself free of Ivy and escapes to find Tasha (Audrey Esparza). After having doubts about his sanity, he finally believes it's her and they set off home. At the end of the episode, there's the usual Jeller moment everyone loves as Jane reassures Weller that he's a good person and that he should not doubt himself.
Fans are all over the place with this episode and surprised to see Oscar as part of Weller's hallucinations. Oscar taunts Weller that Jane doesn't love him anymore. "Jane truly does love Weller with all her heart and soul YOU SHUT UP OSCAR YOU ASS HAT!!! #Blindspot@NBCBlindspot," wrote an excited fan.
Weller also sees the ghosts of the people he had killed. "They are really torturing Weller like that!!!! Bringing all the people he killed #Blindspot," another fan wrote.
"Hallucinations broke Kurt Weller," a fan tweeted while another wrote, "Weller's gonna need a big hug after this."
Others wondered whether Weller's father was a pedophile. "Weller's dad a pedophile..... Is this why Weller has so many fukn issues with all the women he sleeps with on this show??" a fan questioned.
Yet despite all the ghosts and the drug-induced madness, Weller still managed to get up and knock out Ivy. Whew. 'Blindspot' airs on Thursday at 9 pm on NBC.
