The previous episode of 'Blindspot' proved the sinister depths to which Madeline Burke (Mary Elizabeth) could sink to, just in case we had any doubts. Realizing that Matthew Weitz (Aaron Abrams) wasn't on her side, she killed Brianna (Amy Margret Wilson) in front of him, to drive home the consequences of betrayal. A panic-stricken Weitz tells Afrin that they cannot help the fugitives anymore, because it won't end well for them.

In the promo for the next episode, Madeline and her terrorist squad is ready to procure some deadly gas as a weapon and the team has to do everything in their power to stop it. We get to see the team getting ready for another gunfire battle. However, Tasha Zapata (Audrey Esparza)  starts to hallucinate about Edgar Reade (Rob Brown), who died during the drone strike, as shown in the premiere. Tasha has been having a tough time lately, as the earlier episode showed her struggling during battle.

Going by the synopsis for this episode, things are not going to be easy for Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) either, as he receives worrying news about his daughter's well-being. The synopsis reads as, "In order to stop a terrorist group from procuring a deadly chemical weapon, the team must remember key details from their first days at the FBI; Weller worries after he gets scary news about the health of his daughter."

In the first episode of the season, we saw Madeline's novel contraption, which could give people a painful death. The exact intent of Madeline's plans haven't been made clear yet. The team has to put an end to Madeline, as well as clear their own names. "In a lot of ways, this is the closest the surviving members of the team have ever been because they are so isolated," creator Martin Gero told Entertainment Weekly.  "This the most united the team has been for five seasons. They have to work together to survive on the run and each other’s support to clear their names."

He also mentioned that the stakes have never been higher, as they are now in the fifth season of the show.  “The stakes are so high for them personally in every episode,” Gero added.  “We lean into the benefit of having fewer episodes so that we can burn story quicker.”

'Blindspot' airs on NBC, Thursdays at 9 pm.
