‘The Voice’ Season 19: Blake Shelton chooses Jus Jon over Payton, Internet feels ‘but they were both great'
In the premiere episode of the battle round of ‘The Voice’ Season 19, Blake Shelton’s two more contestants showed up to fight for the Knockout challenge. Singers Jus Jon and Payton Lamar, who are considered one of the best in the line-up, covered Sam Smith and Normani’s hit single ‘Dancing With A Stranger’. Earning praises from all coaches during the blind auditions for his confidence and silky smooth voice, Jus Jon showed the same calibre here and gave a tough fight to Payton who did not disappoint either.
After taking note of the opinions from the other judges, Blake Shelton eventually picked Jus Jon for the next round. However, stars did not shine bright for Payton as none of the judges saved her or pressed the buzzer to steal her. Social media users were quick to speak about the same on Twitter. One user said, “I would have preferred Payton but they were both great. Jus had a lot of potential energy. With the correct direction he could go far.” One user stated, “Jus Jon's voice is soo much identical to the original song singer.” Another added, “I loved Jus Jon. Payton’s voice was very strong and interesting but I didn’t care for the tone.” One user tweeted, “Jus Jon was much better than in his blinds. Payton was too high pitched. Jus Jon wins this battle.”
