'Black Widow' the movie: Why does Scarlett Johansson's Natasha Romanoff wear a white suit and what is its significance?
The much-awaited teaser for 'Black Widow' starring Scarlett Johansson is here, and fans cannot keep calm.
The latest Marvel film sends Natasha Romanoff on a mission to deal with her mysterious past and introduces Marvel comic book characters such as Yelena Belova, the Red Guardian and the Taskmaster. We also see Nat make a striking debut in her white spy uniform, which also began in the comics.
Even though we don't get to see much of it as Natasha just jumps from a helicopter onto a walkway in her iconic pose, it still makes quite the impact. Though we might not have seen this before, Black Widow's white suit appeared in 2010's series 'Black Widow: Deadly Origin'.
Over the years, Natasha has suited up in different black outfits. Though black has always been the signature color for Nat, the white one has been made with the intent of her blending into surroundings.
This deadly mission takes place during the day, and in snowy surroundings. If she wore her black uniform, she would only stand out.
There are scenes of Natasha wearing her old Avengers uniform too. Just to jog your memory, Natasha's uniform had once been complimented by Tony Stark's (Robert Downey Jr) batons, which he had given her.
These batons glow with a blue light. She used them during the Battle of Sokovia, to take down Ultron sentries, along with her martial arts mastery. Later, she took her batons to Vormir in 'Avengers Endgame', though she did not use them.
Black Widow's uniform has undergone quite a few subtle changes in the last 10 years. After a black suit in the 'Iron Man' films and the 'Avengers', her uniform got a different touch in 'Captain America: Winter Soldier', and in 'Avengers: Infinity War', she acquired a cool jacket as well.
'Black Widow' will release on May 20.
