Netflix's 'Black Mirror' will return for its fifth season on June 5, the streaming giant revealed on Wednesday along with a trailer.

Season 5 of the anthology series will contain three new stories from Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones.

The season stars Miley Cyrus, Anthony Mackie, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Topher Grace, Damson Idris, Andrew Scott, Nicole Beharie, Pom Klementieff, Angourie Rice, Madison Davenport and Ludi Lin.

In under two minutes, the trailer explores how smartphones and other devices we use are ruinations in our lives. The trailer also features a pink-haired ego-stroking robot.

Cyrus also appears in the trailer, she is playing the role of a pop star with thousands of fans. In the trailer we see them waiting for her to arrive on stage. Her character has undergone a massive transformation in order to get a higher level of fame. "You’ve got 20,000 fans out there, knock ‘em dead," an older woman can be seen encouraging Cyrus as she steps out on stage sporting a pink bob cut and a white ensemble.

Additionally, the trailer also promises that the series will dig deeper into the state of AI (artifical intelligence), smart technology and VR (virtual reality). Though there is no particular synopsis released by Netflix, the trailer does offer a few hints.

We see a lonely teenage girl who, at first, looks charmed by her pink-haired robot but soon is haunted by it. “It’s not a doll,” she says, “that thing’s poison”.

The series also shows a man with a gun who is convinced electronic eyes are following him.

The trailer also sees a few words flash on the screen, “love,” “privacy,” “sex,” “work,” and “afterlife.”

The trailer comes just five months after Brooker and director David Slade released the special interactive standalone movie 'Black Mirror: Bandersnatch'. In the film, viewers were able to make decisions for the main character who was played by Will Poulter. It was a 'choose-your-own-adventure' kind of scenario that might last for minutes or hours depending on the option you selected.

'Black Mirror' season 5 is set to release on Netflix on June 5.
