Bindi Irwin will be walking down the aisle with a koala: 'We may be setting some new trends for weddings'
Steve Irwin's daughter Bindi surprised her followers after revealing she will be walking down the aisle with a koala when she weds her longtime boyfriend Chandler Powell.
The pair officially announced their engagement in July. At the time, Bindi wrote how her beau had given her "the most beautiful surprise" by proposing to her in the gardens of Australia Zoo, Mirror reports. That said, the wedding itself is slated to be held at the zoo next year.
During an appearance on 'Good Morning America', the 21-year-old animal enthusiast and her husband-to-be have spoken at length about their big day.
"We're so excited. It's where we met and where we got engaged so it only makes sense that we'd have it at Australia Zoo," Chandler said. "See, I think this wedding is going to be unique because it's going to be at the zoo and with tons of animals."
Bindi chimed in saying, "I'm not sure how many people have walked down the aisle with a koala, but we may be setting some new trends for weddings from here on out."
"The easiest part of wedding planning is just knowing that I get to marry this amazing guy," she continued. "Whatever else happens it doesn't matter."
Meanwhile, Chandler gushed. "How lucky am I, I get the most beautiful girl in the world," he said. "I'm marrying into the most wonderful family."
Robert, Bindi's younger brother, recently announced he would be substituting for their late father in escorting his elder sister down the aisle on her wedding day. Steve Irwin died in 2006 after being killed by a stingray while filming in Australia's Great Barrier Reef.
In the July Twitter post about her engagement to Chandler, Bindi also included a sneak peek of her bridal dress. "Can't wait to walk you down the aisle," 15-year-old commented on the post.
And Bindi confirmed the same during a conversation with E! News.
"It's so important to include the people that can't be there with you," she told the outlet. "So on the day, I know that Robert is absolutely gonna walk me down the aisle and I think that's what would make dad happiest."
