‘Billions’ dropped major bombshells in Episode 5 'Contract' as new relationships were formed and Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis) looked back at his past. But that's not all. One forgotten character made his way back to the Showtime series. Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) met his former protégé turned arch-enemy Bryan Connerty (Toby Leonard Moore) behind the bars.

No sooner was he seen back on screen, fans couldn't wonder how he ended up in jail. "When TF did Connerty get locked up??" one posted and another said, "Oh, it’s the other Connerty. I forgot Brian is in jail."

"Forgot Connerty was even in jail let alone what for lol," one posted and another said, "I had forgotten Bryan Connerty was languishing in jail." Since his character came back to the series, it's obvious that it wasn't just for that superb sucker punch, was it? Thrilled to see what's next for him, one fan wrote, "I knew we weren't done with Connerty just yet!"

Here's a quick recap. In Season 4 Episode 12 'Extreme Sandbox', Connerty listens to a sealed recording of Chuck and Charles Rhoades (Jeffrey DeMunn) making fun of him. When he tries to reseal and put it back in its place, he gets busted and is taken by the cops. As proof, there are surveillance photos of how he broke into Charles' house too. Tight-lipped about the future of his character, Brian Koppelman told Vulture, "You gotta keep watching the show. We never speak to which way the future is going to go."

Even while he was behind the bars, fans have been pondering over new theories for his character. "Since season 1, Bobby’s been trying to court Connerty. I think by mid-season he’s on Team Axe Cap. Could be an interesting twist for Connerty, he’s obviously crossed lines morally already, he could be an asset for Axe and while he’s not on Chuck’s level, him on Axe’s side tips the scales an awful lot. It doesn’t hurt when they named you 'the idiot' in the big trap they set," one Reddit user posted.

Another fan posted, "PLOT TWIST?: Somehow Brian Conerty trades his kidney for his freedom with Chuck to save Chuck Sr. life. #Billions." As more episodes roll out from Season 5 of ‘Billions’, it will be interesting to see where his character goes and whether he takes revenge from Chuck or not.

'Billions' Season 5 airs on Sundays at 9 pm ET on Showtime.
