NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Comedian Bill Burr found himself in hot water after he came to the defense of his wife, Nia Renee Hill, who previously received furious backlash for giving former US President Donald Trump the double bird at UFC 295.

The incident took place on Saturday, November 11, when Trump entered Madison Square Garden alongside UFC president Dana White, Kid Rock, Tucker Carlson, and son Donald Trump Jr.

He sat ringside to watch the main event directly in front of Burr and Hill, the comedian's wife of 10 years. As Trump prepared to take his seat, cameras in the arena moved to him and captured Hill, making the sign at his back.

Trump seemed utterly clueless about the gesture as he continued to scan the room. Burr’s head, meanwhile, was turned in the opposite direction.

The footage has now garnered immense social media attention, with some users finding the act bold and amusing, and others calling it "trashy" and "classless."

Nearly one week after the incident, Bill Burr appeared on 'The Rich Eisen Show', where he defended Nia Renee Hill, saying, "I love my wife, you know where you stand with her. The guy walked into the arena, everybody cheered, she gave him the finger, nobody got arrested. That's why this country's great!"

He continued, "Everybody expressed themselves. Can we all be adults? I came here to go to the fights. I didn't know I was going to the Republican National Convention."

Burr went on to compare Trump praising the MSG audience to "when OJ Simpson was acquitted." He further stated that the former president is getting the "Michigan treatment" after receiving a warm welcome while on trial in the city for a $250 million scam, according to Daily Mail.

The 'Old Dads' star concluded the conversation by branding his wife "hilarious" and laughing off the incident as a funny moment.

After Bill Burr’s remarks regarding the incident surfaced, many users slammed the comedian for defending his wife by calling the controversial incident a "funny" moment.

One wrote, "I don't really care about what his wife did, I laughed cuz she thght she was being a rebel.
