Big Hit Entertainment app Weverse a big mess as terrible cart issues and shoddy customer service plagues fans
Despite being hailed as a new way for idols to communicate more directly with their fans, Weverse has grown into much more since its inception less than a year ago. The Big Hit Entertainment-helmed app has blossomed into a community with multiple fandoms interacting with one another. Additionally, it has become a popular space to purchase official merchandise, including albums, lightsticks, fashion and much more. Unfortunately, despite its promising beginnings, the Weverse store has consistently run into issues due to its inability to meet buyers' demands.
One overarching issue appears to be a lack of communication that leaves many buyers out of the loop when new items go on sale. "What's the point of me following all the official weverse twts if i never learn about merch dropping until after it's all sold out lol. the only thing i would have gotten is yoongi's premium photo from ly tour cuz i still regret not buying it when i went to the concert...ah well," tweeted one fan after the app's most recent failure to provide a seamless shopping experience for buyers.
The largest issue, however, appears to stem from the app not holding items for buyers after it is placed in their carts meaning buyers have to check out right after they select an item, leading to many users losing out when items sell out before they complete their orders. "I had two sets of photocards on my weverse shopping cart but Paypal took too long to charge and they were sold out," tweeted one buyer, followed by several crying emojis.
Another stated, "#WEVERSENEEDSAREVIEW WEVERSE NEEDS AN IMPROVEMENT TO GIVE US TIME WE COULD NOT GET ANYTHING THAT TAKES EVERYTHING IN A SUPER FAST TIME AND WILL NOT LET ME USE THE PAYPAL OPTION NEEDS AN IMPROVEMENT— I NEED RESTOCK," and one said, "What was that lmao Weverse literally showed me an error for the past hour but at least I still got something."
Many fans were also upset to find out that not all items were being shipped to all destinations. "Weverse shop you f*cking b*tch why are some items shipping to Canada and not others," tweeted one enraged user, adding, "AND WHY CAN'T I BUY THE NECKLACE STILL @ [Big Hit] GET UR SH*T TOGETHER." Others were also concerned about the cost of shopping on the platform, tweeting, "WEVERSE LEMME JUST BUY SOMETHING TO DROWN MY SADNESS WHY IS SHIPPING THE SAME PRICE AS THE MOASHIP I DONT UNDERSTAND."
Some fans who lost out were angry because they canceled orders from other outlets so they could use Weverse instead. One use shared, "The fact that I cancelled a LY premium off Mercari so I could buy it for cheaper on weverse / [Big Hit] really said no ma’am lol." Fans are now forced to wait for a restock, not knowing when it will happen. One user joked, "On my way to get In & Out because after everything I didn’t get in Weverse I surely deserve some food."
Some fans offered suggestions on how to fix the issue, stating, "Weverse should be like Ticketmaster and that once it’s in your cart you have x amount of minutes to pay for it," though they might have to reconsider that statement considering Ticketmaster has also come under fire for their handling of the refund of BTS 'Map of the Soul: 7' postponed concert tickets.
Nonetheless, it appears Weverse users are fed up with the app's failures and want Big Hit to fix them right away. "Can weverse PLEASE fix their cart issue? once something is in YOUR cart it’s YOURS and you should have enough time to pay. it’s so unfair that they don’t hold it while you’re in the literal process of paying," stated one buyer, to which another responded, "Weverse literally doesn't give an ef about customer experience AT ALL. tried to cancel one item out of 10 in an order and they don't let u," adding, "#WeverseSucks."
One buyer stated, "Exactly why I never get my merch from Weverse," while another shared, "Bout to mute weverse bc jus seeing that word makes me sad." That might turn out to be a mistake, however, seeing as idols like Seventeen's Joshua and Dokyeom have finally decided to get more active on the platform in honor of the group's five-year anniversary and make it an even more exciting experience to be a part of.
Perhaps Big Hit might take this recent controversy more seriously, now that its family has grown to include Pledis artistes like Seventeen, and finally fix its cart issue.
