'Big Celebrity Detox': Martin Roberts discloses 'shock factor' behind drinking urine and s**tting himself in show

PAULTON NEAR BATH, SOMERSET: E4's new series 'Big Celebrity Detox' has left fans horrified ahead of its release. The contestants of the show were reportedly "traumatized" by the uncomfortable moments and extreme conditions. Martin Roberts recently revealed some of the sickening scenes that he and other contestants had to go through which will leave you with utter disgust.
The television representative revealed that he "drank his own urine" and "s**t himself" while filming 'Big Celebrity Detox'. As famous faces like Kerry Katona, Cloe Veitch, David Potts, Toby Armolaran, Princess Olga, and Michael Venom Page took part alongside Roberts in the new series, they had to undergo extreme detox treatments. Well, these undergo treatments seem to have an adverse effect on the cast members, leaving them scarred for a long time. Reliving the traumatic moments, Roberts opened up about his experience on the show.

The 'Homes Under The Hammer' star, 59, revealed in an interview with The Sun that there were some of the most bizarre treatments that the stars were treated with. The TV personality unveiled that he went to such an extreme in the show that he has to "drink his own urine and s**t himself".
Furthermore, Roberts revealed the reason behind the treatment and said, "I think they did this as a shock factor to get people to watch the series, we had to drink our own urine!" He further explained the experience to be "weird". Roberts then went on to explain how he along with the other cast members had "violent diarrhea" while filming the scenes.

Roberts then explained one of the treatments in E4's upcoming show 'Big Celebrity Detox' which he calls "vomit beans". The star said, "You’re going to have to get the correct name, but I call them vomit beans." He then went on to explain how this "vomit beans" scene went on. The cast members were meant to "sit in a circle and do a bit of chanting over a fire". Roberts explained that "weird people in white smocks" used to give them the beans that guaranteed to make the cast members "throw up and s**t" themselves. Going through such extreme experiences, Roberts revealed that he once was "rushed to hospital with less than a few hours to live."
The TV personality then went on to explain that after such a horrendous experience in the show, he developed heart pain because of the expansion of the pericardium, the fibrous sac that encloses the heart and great vessels. Thankfully, immediately being rushed to the hospital saved his life.
When will 'Big Celebrity Detox' release?
'Big Celebrity Detox' will release on Monday, May 15, 2023, at 9 pm ET on E4. The eight-part series will release every night from Monday to Thursday for two weeks.
