Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik decided to come forward to talk about her mental health as part of  Mental Health Awareness month. The actress spoke about her mental health struggles which she faced as a kid.

“I think what I would have liked to tell my younger self about my mental health is that there are answers,” she said in a video which she posted on her Instagram.

Mayim confessed that her problems seemed to get solved the minute she decided to go forward and seek help. “For me, some of those answers I had to wait years to find and I needed to get different help, which ended up being really the right kind of help," she continued.

Like everyone else, even Mayim had her own doubts about the treatment when it comes to mental health. “But I had this notion when I was younger that if something didn’t work once, or if a therapist didn’t work, or if a medication didn’t work, that nothing would ever work,” she noted.

“I wish I could have told my younger self that something will work — it’s just going to take sometimes more research, sometimes more referrals, and really figuring things out like your life depends on it. Because for me, it did.” Mayim decided to speak up as part of the social media campaign which is organized by Child Mind Institute.

The organization is partnering up with various celebrities and urging them to come forward and talk about mental health. The #MyYoungerSelf campaign has been started to end the stigma attached to mental health and learning disorders.  By using celebrities as the face of the campaign, the organization hopes to make people believe that it is alright to have problems but it is important to know that help is possible.

This comes after Mayim came forward and confessed that trying on wedding dresses on Big Bang Theory was hard for her since she is a divorcee. The show currently shows her character (Amy) and Sheldon (Jim Parsons) getting married and while it is a much-awaited episode, Mayim was not too excited about it.

In her vlog, Mayim confessed that the scene in which her character had to put on various dresses to choose the perfect one, wasn't the one she was too fond of. In the vlog the actress said that the scene "brought up a lot of things that I personally and not comfortable with', in particular: 'being a divorced woman trying on traditional wedding dresses."

The actress was previously married to Michael Stone from 2003 to 2012 and the couple shares two sons, 12-year-old Miles and nine-year-old Frederick.

"I don't know if it's in my life's journey to be in a wedding dress again, so, I don't know, it's just hard....it's hard," she admitted.' Mayim confessed she did not like the attention it brought along with it.

"I still feel like me in this wedding dress draws all sorts of like the bride-related attention to me, and I don't know that I want that, because I'm divorced," she noted.

"Ultimately — and this is hard — I wonder if people will feel pity for me," she said. "Because I tried to be married once, I was in that position, and... I failed."

At the same time, she also seemed to have a problem with the amount of time spent on a dress.

"You're literally going to wear once and probably rarely - if ever - look at again, while there are homeless children on the streets of every city in this country...it just didn't sit well," she said.
