Biden prays for Trump's 'swift recovery', MAGA supporters ask him to denounce liberals wishing death on POTUS

Biden supporters meanwhile slammed the president for potentially exposing the former VP to the virus during the first presidential debate

Joe Biden tweeted Friday morning that he and his wife Jill were sending their prayers and thoughts to President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump after it emerged that they'd tested positive for coronavirus. "We will continue to pray for the health and safety of the president and his family," the Democratic presidential nominee stressed.

Biden and Trump shared the same stage Tuesday night for the first presidential debate held in Cleveland, Ohio, barely a month away from Election Day. The two candidates were standing approximately eight feet apart, debate moderator and Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace said Friday.

There's no word from the Biden camp about when he was last tested for the deadly virus, but in August they said the former vice president and his running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris of California, would be regularly tested for COVID-19 and that the campaign would make results public if either tested positive. Biden was originally scheduled to campaign in Michigan on Friday, but it's unclear if his schedule will be altered after the latest developments. It's worth noting that the POTUS has been holding large rallies with tens of thousands of attendees at major airports across the country. In contrast, the former vice president has been holding small scale events with barely any people in the audience owing to social distancing and mask guidelines.

Taking to Twitter on Friday morning, Harris said she and her husband Doug Emhoff would also "join Joe Biden and Dr. Biden in wishing President Trump and the First Lady a full and speedy recovery. We're keeping them and the entire Trump family in our thoughts." Harris is set to face off with Vice President Mike Pence on Wednesday, October 7, for the first vice presidential debate in Salt Lake City, Utah, Fox News reported.

That said, several Biden supporters took to social media to respond to his well-wishes for Trump, with some complaining that the latter's campaign didn't warn the former about possible exposure to the contagion. "It’s ok to feel bad for Trump and his family, and it’s definitely ok to wish him well. It doesn’t mean you don’t think he’s corrupt. It doesn’t mean you can’t say he should be voted out. Or that his policies are terrible. It means you’re human. A good one. Vote Biden Harris," author Scott Dworkin tweeted.

"After wishing Trump well Biden should continue campaigning on his covid plan going forward without mentioning Trump. As Trump inevitably starts tweeting Biden can go back on attack and point out how he intentionally exposed others knowing he had been exposed," Washington Post writer Jennifer Rubin wrote.

"Trump and Melania knew they had Rona before last night. They didn’t tell the Biden campaign. They didn’t wear masks. Zero f*cking sympathy for anyone with the last name Trump who has the Rona. F*ck those selfish a**holes," anti-Trump writer Tony Posnanski added.

Meanwhile, pro-Trump Twitterati wondered whether the Biden camp would denounce his supporters' celebration of the president's diagnosis. "Joe Biden has thus far refused to denounce his supporters’ celebration of Trump’s diagnosis and has also refused to denounce his supporters who are gleefully saying they hope the President and First Lady both die," The Federalist co-founder Sean Davis wrote.

"Will Biden be asked to denounce all the liberals who are wishing Trump dies?" PR specialist Chris Barron questioned.
